Hey Paul, awesome video! Now, everyone who ever denied that using a towel or cloth on vinyl records as an acceptable method for cleaning records may finally be a believer in what static electricty can do to a record. Super informative info!

LOL! The look on your face when taking out the Jackie DeShannon LP. Hahaha. I think you hit the nail on the the head. Excellent video! An extremely intelligent assimilation.

An AMAZING demonstration and advice. I find that my microfiber cloths don't induce a charge after a wet clean, but I also don't labor over it - I was getting more dust drying the records in a stand like you showed, but I also live in a dusty environment (rural/farm/fields nearby, dogs, etc.)... I only wiped once or twice and not forever - plus the rags were damp-ish on subsequent records I would clean in a session.

Dude, thank you. Great demonstration. Your videos rule! I've been experiencing a lot of static pops...especially with all the new vinyl I just bought. Peace. ~Hanna

Paul, I just had this popped up in my feed, dang this was great, vinyl record science. Totally makes sense I have a spin clean and have been religiously doing the wipe down with a towel. It makes perfect sense what you said. A New Years cleaning resolution. Thanks.

Hey Paul, just watched this while using the spin clean, so thanks for an informative and timely video! I have been using a rack to help dry, but after also using a cloth once per side to wipe excess moisture. So i have noticed some of the effect you've shown. Looking forward to your cleaning solution tips in the next video - have made my own with distilled water, pure alcohol and a touch of dish cleaning fluid as a surfactant. Cheers- Dean

I Googled how to remove pops and crackles from vinyl and you are the first out of many to actually address the issue. Thank You. I also use a Spin Clean system and have wondered how to rid static from the many albums I buy out of second hand stores that I clean with the Spin Clean. I will give air dry a try. I have been collecting vinyl since the mid 60's and do not share your opinion of Jackie

I’ve been using this method on my last couple rounds of record cleaning. It works perfectly. I use the spin clean per the instructions for cleaning the records then I dump the solution into a jar to use next time and refill the spin clean with distilled water and put them back through for a rinse. Then I use a microfiber towel to wipe off the excess water and then let them air dry in a letter filer like you have shown. It works perfectly
