This is still quite inconvenient and should be considered a transitional method. We look forward to Riverside offering a solution in the future that allows for local recording of multiple guests on one computer. Our podcast involves two people recording face-to-face, so we really need this feature.

How do you eliminate cross talk between the mics? In this video it seems like the pillow's mic is picking up the speaking as well.

Exactly! I’ve also gotten crazy ‘feedback’ when having two devices close to each other.

That's inherently a challenge when recording in-person. Would recommend separating the in-person guests as much as possible in the room, and I have a video on tips for that as well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoutZWNuj6eUaqMsi=VYQ-RmV8S5s7CGhN

This one’s gonna be super important. Got a larger group next week that we’re planning on recording with and I’m not sure how the audio is going to fair with 4-5 guys in one room.
@theparadoxofchange2 ай бұрын
Same for us, the out of sink voice bleed is horrific at times! And I swear Riverside compresses the audio to. I’ve had to resort to good old-fashioned multicam editing on Final Cut Pro just to retain the audio quality and saving the audio on a separate device whilst using Riverside. It got more complicated instead of easier.

Quick question: If I use those Lavalier mini mics, will I still get those two separate soundtracks ready to download with each speaker that I can use to focus on each person when they speak?
@Riversidefm11 күн бұрын
Not in Riverside. You'll need to download the audio tracks from the mics themselves to a computer. OR if you connect one mic to its own device, say an iPhone, then you *will* get separate tracks in Riverside. The key is having a separate device (camera / mic) per guest, and that can be a mobile device, iPad, or computer.

We want to make a completely in-person recording, with us sitting next to each other chatting - not two separate videos. How do we do that?
@Riversidefm3 ай бұрын
You can use the video from just one of the devices, but we would still recommend two different audio sources for editing and better quality audio. Just setup one mobile device or camera going in to Riverside that's a wide show of you both, then in the Riverside editor you can hide the other camera angles!

Can you use two iphones as the two devices for an in-person?
@Riversidefm2 ай бұрын
Absolutely!
@hamadminmgr3 ай бұрын
What would the setup be if I was using a Rodecaster Duo attached to the main host? So the audio is going through the interface. As @奇妙故事局 says it would be great to allow recording on one computer.
@Riversidefm3 ай бұрын
If you want to do all the editing in Riverside, it would take using a second browser and the second USB mix to record the other person separately. Or you can record the individual audio tracks to a local SD card or SSD connected to the Rodecaster.

Thanks for this video. I am recording in-person using a Scarlett interface so the two microphones are attached to that, which is then plugged into one laptop. I want to use a second device (Android) to record video (of both guests) but I want each guest to be able to speak into the two microphones that are plugged into the interface, if that makes sense? For maximum audio quality. How do I do this? (Essentially I want to record on two microphones but also record video - happy with just one video)
@Riversidefm3 ай бұрын
You can setup that second Android device with the Riverside app, join using the guest invite link, and then choose the mute device option on the phone. This will record that second angle and you can download the video file from the Riverside dashboard after the fact!

@@Riversidefm Hi again, so I did a test (reminder of what I am trying to do: recording in person with 2 videos. Person 1 is on a Macbook; person 2 is on the Android camera with the microphone muted. I have a Scarlett interface plugged into the Macbook with 2 x Rode Podmics for person 1 and person 2.) Both video recordings are successful. However, because of the Scarlett interface, both microphones have gone onto person 1's recording, so the audio is all on one track. This means that when I use dynamic video in the edit, the video stays on person 1 at all times. How do I get person 2's audio to record on the 2nd mic (which is plugged into the Macbook via the Scarlett interface)? Person 2's audio option is greyed out. There must be a way?! Thanks!

I already tried this at Riverside. However, the buffering in both video and audio is so severe that I don't recommend it. How is the upload speed of recorded video improving?
@Riversidefm4 ай бұрын
Are you referring to buffering when recording or in the finished recorded files? For buffering during the live call, we would recommend pausing uploads which saves on bandwidth.

If you recorded with multiple devices where each guest has their specific audio recorded to that video, like I showed here, you can use the AI layouts in the Riverside editor to automatically switch between the active speakers!

Is there a way to get local recordings saved on the pc, not the ones uploaded? The one that gets uploaded gets janky because of bandwidth I’m guessing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKrJq4R3lKubepIsi=aXM_jbMhDeLyANBs&t=670
