There's actually president for WHY he was able to survive and win the match. He's the son of Lugh, Irish god of light. If it was any other demigod, then yeah, Ra could have won (given the lore explinations). However, Cu has a natural resistance to light.

I think I’d have been more okay with it if Cu’s opponent WASNT a chief god. Anyone else I could excuse a one shot under the pretense that it’s round 1, Cu is obviously a focal character and they have to move quickly. Ra being a chief tho kinda throws the whole power scale for a loop - because why is a Chief God getting killed in 5 seconds by a demigod? Overall though I expected Cu to win and I still think the hate is a bit much from a lot of people. Cu is the offspring of the Celtic sun god in mythology. Cu is going to have insane durability to heat and fire. When you take into consideration that all ra had was his sun powers, while cu has his berserker transformation plus a spear that can literally splinter inside opponents. It makes sense that cu won.

A short fight, introducing the concept of the story, while still having a decent backstory explaining the characters motivation and character interraction. Consider that Thor is also a character mostly carried by Mjolnir, but nobody says "Thor without the hammer is fodder", they just say "Thor is S tier".

if you didn't know anything about cu chulainn before seeing this fight I can understand it might come as a shock but his weapon is that dangerous even more so in the actual legend. If struck by it, it just fills your body with thorns. Which makes it very interesting how they chose to depict that in the manga, especially the part where the spear is said to be thrown by the foot.

Ra losing was obviously not surprising though, in most cases it was up on the air, but in this case it was blatantly obvious. Cu Chulainn was the underdog in this fight and was legit getting ragdolled, and Cu’s father is the Celtic god of the sun. Its pretty clichè, but the outcome was seen from a mile away.

people have always been crying about the gods in record of ragnarok, just look at how many people were mad that Shiva was treated to be inferior to Zeus and struggled against a human, people need to take their bias for gods away, if it was ''oh strongest name god wins everything'' then what would be the point of both this side series and the main series, these are series meant to be a fun read not a realistic tale of mythological gods As for how fast the fight was with not as much backstory and such, I assume it's due to this being a side story, if they went the same route as the main series this series could very well outlast the main series + there's most likely not as much funding/time being put onto it which obviously it would be better, but it's what people should expect from a side story

I had a feeling that Cu would win, and I am also predicting that he will win the tournament. Why exactly, because something tells me that he is the main character/main protagonist of this manga. I’ve enjoyed the fight, but I did not enjoy how this fight ended. Ra has been portrayed as this massive powerhouse who dominates the entire fight then all of a sudden Cu one shots him and that’s it? It makes Ra look very bad, and even though I had a feeling that he would lose I didn’t think that it would be like this. I completely stopped following the Manga after Hades lost. And dont get me in the wrong way ... I am not "Salty" because he lost, but I was disappointed that Hades had so much potential as the older brother of the Greek Gods. His care for his younger brother in the Manga was really touching ... Really showed his potential to be the proud warrior from Greek mythology ( Unlike his two brothers ) Yet All I saw was a cheap copy of Posiden with no special powers or abilities ... I knew early in the fight that he was created just to be a stepping stone for the Chinese Emperor ( Forgot his name ) Really disappointing fight. Couldn't care more for the Manga after it.

Wukong got a lot of his main kit by stealing it, his signature pole is just a pillar he stole from a palace(idk which palace but a very divine one). The reason he's immortal times whatever number is because he ate immortal peaches not meant for him, erased his own name from the book of death, ate immortality pills(don't ask, every chinese manhua is obsessed with pills and cultivation) also not ment for him, and other ways that were not given by gods. Basically, never bows to any gods until buddah put him in his place. Also forgot to mention, every monkey in his cave is also immortal. Mind you, it's been a while since I've watched any retelling of journey to the west so feel free to educate me if I get a lot of things wrong.

Tbh I am disappointed, they hype up a character so cool and with an insane ability and they have him die in such a boring way. I get they need to end it early but still disappointing that the first match gave the idea that Cu is a protag armor character more prominence. I just don't get why hype him up to so much like that just to die so quick.
