Sure, people here who can walk into air conditioned stores will stop buying products produced in sweat shops abroad with no air conditioning. I'm sure people will also take a moral stand against electric cars considering the batteries used in the cars are called blood batteries in parts of Africa, because the mines have been destroying fresh water ways, have decimated the local landscape, and brought bad health and birth defects to the local populations. China runs the mines for precious metals in the democratic republic of the Congo, and they don't have the most humane work conditions. Watch the west stand up, I don't think so.

For the people who think this isn't a big deal because it gets hotter in other places: You have to understand, places where these temperatures are more common EXPECT these temps. They build their infrastructure with these conditions in mind to prevent the types of issues mentioned in the video. The people who live in hotter/harsher climates are also more conditioned for that type of environment.

Being a roofer in Oklahoma, I was confused until they said most don’t have A/C. A few hours of 100+ degrees means you have to stop or the shingles will be worthless from the tar melting and sliding under your feet. @@nawfsideplay Average summer temps in Britain are usually in the upper 60s f, a hit day is low 80s. Very little need for AC 99% of the time. Germany is pretty far north, average warm temperatures are more in the 70s than the 90s. Most of Europe is on the same latitude as Greenland and would actually be very cold compared to the USA, they get a warm breeze from the equator that loops up and keeps things from freezing over.

I was living in my car during this recent heat wave with a tiny little fan to cool me down, and it hit 100 degrees. Meanwhile, I was fishing and camping. These are normal weathers in parts of the world and they go about with usual business. There are poor countries without any air conditioning, as well. Its not as colorful as it once was because of the pollution, the air quality here is getting worse and you can tell because you can't see the mountains sometimes due to the smog🤢 Climate change is seriously hurting and killing alot of people, just because it's currently not effecting you, doesn't mean that it's not hurting people. Are people really that dim that they can’t understand the UK is not used to these sorts of temperatures? From the comments about how hot it is in Mexico and certain states in the U.S. I can only conclude they are. As interesting as that is, it’s utterly irrelevant to what is currently happening in the UK. Here’s why - the UK generally has mild summers and cold winters. Therefore, the UK is not built for the temperatures we’ve had this week. If it was, our infrastructure would have been designed to withstand those temperatures. We do not have air conditioning everywhere, our homes are designed to keep us warm not cool.

Because the country hasn’t got the structures to cope with this weather also has double glazed windows
@crompee
@crompee 2 жыл бұрын
the clue to stop you being baffled is in what you said... it's normal weather for your country. Europe is mild heat with lots of cold spells, that means that all buildings are built to trap heat inside with no air con,pools or cooling measures anywhere. Our homes become saunas and there is no escape from the heat. Your home's are built to let the heat escape and it's cooler inside that outside. we have full insulation in thick walls, loft padding/insulating and double glazed windows. This is very effective at trapping heat inside the building which is what the usual priority is. This means, we have no escape from the heat, inside your home is often hotter than it is outside. So we have no rest from the heat and as such, become very susceptible to heat stroke/death. On top of this, none of our infrastructure is built to manage heat as it's designed to work in cold temperatures, airport tarmac has melted, train lines have been forced to close, etc. It's not that the temperature is higher than other parts of the world, it's that the temperature has far exceeded what any of our infrastructure/homes are designed to handle.

It's 60 degrees where I live. Never gets hot. Problem with England is when there is a heatwave they don't have AC in any buildings. It's like San Francisco. Everyone pretends it's cool all the time and when it's hot every year they are totally unprepared.

I tell you I was sick with covid during the hottest day on monday and Tuesday. It made me feel worse, my dad quickly got all the fans from the attic and his van to keep me and my mum cool. We were both so ill and our fevers were getting worse but the fans helped us. And I kinda had a lucky escape from my factory job which gets twice as hot inside during the summer. I hope france is doing ok now since we are back on the cooler days of the summer.

Arizona native, back long ago before AC in arizona they would keep wet sheets across windows. Grandparents moved here after ww2 and very few houses had ac units. You can also buy a swamp cooler... keep hydrated and try to acclimate yourself to the heat gradually, the key is to get your body adjusted to it.

Keep windows open at night and place a fan blowing the warm air out. Close the windows in the am. Cover your windows with something to darken your rooms during the daytime. A bowl of ice next to a room fan is helpful. Stay hydrated!!!!

We need to address climate change, which includes building the infrastructure to withstand these changes. Last year my hometown of Spokane WA, had temps of 112 F, unheard of in WA state. Electric companies had to do rotating power outages of up to an hour each, because our electrical system can't handle heat like that. I feel for Europe, this is awful.

The earth's climate has changed a few times throughout its history and none of those were caused by mankind burning fossil fuels. Maybe earth's temperature is going back to the average temperature of the jurassic age. Then after that we will have another ice age. Too bad you can't blame those on humans.
