Yeah I've always had a mixed relationship with RSD. But it is called Record STORE Day, not Record COLLECTOR Day, so it's always had the intention of helping out the independent stores, not helping out the buyers on the day. Although in the long run if RSD helps more small shops stay open, then the buyers do benefit over time because they get more buying options (and used vinyl opportunities) with local indie stores staying in business.

Good to have you back Greedo. I bought the two George 'zoetrope' albums (I didn't have either in any format and I find myself increasingly enjoying experimental music) but left the John EP knowing that the full album's on its way; like you, I'm reappraising my opinion on his post-Mops ouevre. I'll buy 'One Hand..." too but if the EP is a 45rpm one I'll give the package with that a miss because I can't be arsed with changing the belt on my turntable. PS - Have you seen the Barbie movie yet? It's PG48 rated apparently.

This is a very fair post. If you live in Australia to buy the 2 cd version from the McCartney site )that's after it keeps directing you to thev Australia site where you only having the lp option - no cd available). So after realising I can eventually get it from the official UK Macca site, it will cost $70 Austalian which is equivalent to 36.63 pounds. That's yet another expensive price. I love your thought processes as I would because I relate to them very much. I am no sycophantic fan or try not to be. I have become a greater admirer of John and possibly in part because I believe Paul has become a very greedy artist. @@dinnerwithgreedo I think it’s absurd that he is releasing all of these products staggering during the year instead of putting One Hand Clapping in its entirety on one disc and DVD in earlier packaging. People had speculated if he was going to include One Hand Clapping in its full form in earlier releases and received criticism for not doing so. I know Band On The Run is in its 50th anniversary but instead of multiple vinyls in every color someone could imagine with various styles and designs to it would have been more appropriate for the people who wanted the actual complete music associated with the album. In my opinion he has toned down the obvious, blatant marketing and went for a softer approach either from criticism or his own restraint.

And that seller was the least expensive but this bloke had 25 for sale and sold every one of them. There was one left after my purchase. @@dinnerwithgreedo That’s a good question. I blame the industry. Scalpers seem to get all the good seats for a concert. Stores don’t care who buys the merchandise as long as they sell it so anyone can walk in and buy all of new releases then turn around and sell it 3 times (or more) for what they paid for it. It’s the “limited edition” part that makes the flippers. I don’t see it getting better at all.

Remember when artists used to release an album, and people grumbled (rightly) if they then took a single off it, as you'd end up buying the same material twice? Halcyon days: now, record companies just release collectables. They're not meant to be played, just collected - hence shit like glow in the dark JL EPs. I had a glow in the dark Ghostbusters picture disc, but that was a novelty record from a film, not a 'proper record' from a serious artist. I bought Mind Games in 1973 - why does it need releasing again? Shitty remixes don't cut it.

And yes you have to stop buying dollies, not just because you're 48 but mainly because you have a winkle. 😂 My local record store, which incidentally is a 50 minute drive away, were definitely taking the piss with the price. Pretty everyone who commented on my RSD video from the Uk said they paid £28 (which is also ridiculous). I didn't know the price until I got there and I can tell you there was some finger-wagging at the bloke behind the counter , who probably didn't give a shit as it was probably nothing to do with him. Won't be using them again. Ive only ever been there once best - last years RSD. I'm not really a collector, just a fan and I bought the EP simply because I wanted to get and hear the new mixes early. Patience is not one of my strong points. Having now heard how brilliant the Ep sounds, I have almost forgotten about the £34. If I hadn't bought that, I probably would have blown the lot on dollies.
