1:42 thanks for clearing up the mystery of the file picker workings 😂 on the final "select folder" action I thought dark blue was to highlight to select, but it was light blue instead😮 it drove me crazy, but I watched your video second by second, pausing, rewinding until I got it😊 my stuff: firestick 4k max 2nd gen, otg cable, independently powered FreeAgent GoFlex 2 TB USB 3.0 3.5-inch External Hard Drive formatted FAT32 Fire OS 8

Awesome! Solved my exact issue and probably the same for many. I could not figure out why I couldn't change the path to record the onto the USB - connecting a keyboard to access the folders that the remote couldn't did the trick! FYI, I was using the Firestick 4K.

Great vid. When i start the recording, do i have to leave tivimate app in the foreground? Or will it still be recording if i press the home button to exit the app?

It should continue to work. When you program a recording and then turn of the Firestick with the remote, the recording will start as planned.

Can you please help me. I have a Firestick 4K Max and have a 2 terabyte external hard drive. I let the Firestick format this drive using the device option. My Firestick see's the drive but Tivimate doesn't see it when I try to set it up to record to the external drive. What am I doing wrong?

You can use a 2TB drive, but it has to be SSD because of its lower power consumption.

I am using a Seagate One Touch 2TB External Hard Drive HDD - Silver USB 3.0 and a Mission USB Power Cable. I can see it on the Firestick it's just Tivimate that won't see it. Question: should I have formatted the whole 2 tb drive as fat 32?
@elpinosero32 ай бұрын
@@stevehoop3175 I connected a FAT32 drive and let the Firestick format it as external storage. After that follow the video part about system picker.

Can the recordings be watched in another device and offline?
@elpinosero33 ай бұрын
As the USB drive is FAT32 formatted, you can use it on your PC and view the contents using VLC. Unfortunately, I couldn't watch it on another device like Chromecast with Google TV.

@@elpinosero3 thanks yet was wondering if Tivimate can launch offline thus possibly watching recordings offline as well
@elpinosero33 ай бұрын
If you mean that you can start TiviMate without internet connection and the watch your recording, no. The Fire TV home would be unavailable thus opening TiviMate is impossible.

You should have pointed out that just adding a USB drive doesn't work on all firesticks...older models of the firestick require coding through ADB shell to enable it to read USB drives... although, today, this would be difficult to do since Amazon has disabled any and all ADB access to older firesticks...however, the newer firesticks starting with the max and lite don't require any coding. They can read USB drives out of the box. As for the recordings you don't necessarily need a keyboard to select the curser icons. It depends on the file manager you use...the most recommended and easiest to use is ES file explorer which is not the one you're using here.... Also, you can indeed watch more than one program while recording another...it all depends on the strength of your bandwidth. The higher the bandwidth the better your chances of getting a clean recording...provided you have a good IPTV provider to begin with.
@elpinosero33 ай бұрын
Thank you for your feedback. So actually you invalidate your comment about the USB drive.... As I noted in the video, I haven't found any other way to control the cursor. I'll see if it works with the remote control, once I install ES File Explorer. You can only watch multiple programs on 1 account at once, if your provider gives you that option. If he doesn't, you will get interrupted recordings and you will also have intermittent playback when watching live TV.
@GeeksAndGamingNetwork3 ай бұрын
@@elpinosero3 how do you figure what I said about the USB drive is not true? It is true. Older model firesticks won't read USB drives unless you code it to do so through ADB shell...there are several videos on how to do this by other tech enthusiast...you can't just plug a USB drive and it will work as you showed here... if you used a 4k max or lite then you should have mentioned that so you don't get questions from viewers saying it doesn't work for them. As for recording and watching another show, it has nothing to do with your provider. It has to do with your bandwidth, otherwise it wouldn't record at all instead of getting crashes and intermittent recordings... I think you're confusing paying for more than 1 connection with the ability to record and watch a different source...having more than 1 connection is simply to have access on more than 1 TV...meaning you can watch on a TV or on a tablet or phone at the same time if you choose... as such, I have been able to use the multi view option on tivimate to view 2 channels in a split box which works great during football season.
@elpinosero33 ай бұрын
I did not mean that what you was wrong or untrue, but you said this: "although, today, this would be difficult to do since Amazon has disabled any and all ADB access to older firesticks." So I think there is no need in mentioning it. As for recording, I have a 1000 Mbps up and down connection and when I record a program and simultaneously watch another, the recording has interruptions or stops altogether while the broadcast I am watching also has freezes. I have observed this with multiple providers. And I have quite some years of experience. There are providers where you can have multiple connections to one account, then it does work. So it has nothing to do with bandwidth.

@@elpinosero3 once again, you don't seem to understand. If there are a lot more old firestick users than new firestick users than a distinction needs to be made about their features or lack there of... it's why PC software and games have "minimum and recommended requirements" listed when you buy a game...they can't say "this will work on your PC" because they know not everybody has the same specs on their PC... As for recording,I guess we're at an empass then cause I can do everything you say you can't do with 1 connection... you'll have to take it up with your ISP provider then.

Elpinosero3 - looks like you blocked all replies to you, but there is since there are a lot more people with older firesticks than newer ones...by not even mentioning the distinction you're implying that it works on all firesticks, which it doesn't... I'm not trying to offend you, just giving you pointers on how to make a more informative video.
