Got a Recording King lap steel last year and am about to purchase a Dirty 30’s Resonator. Great company to help out musicians with not a lot of income! Keep up the good videos!

Just wanted to say that the videos are great, they’re professional and the audio quality is great, super informative and really helpful, you sir have restored my faith in affordable guitars!! I will be buying both the recording kind and the gold top very soon, keep up the great work bro!

I've got a RK RD318 and it's a great guitar. It's really got me into Recording King for price/quality. Have been considering an RPS 9 too! Really love their guitars and haven't seen a single negative review on any of their models!

Great sound for the money. I would suggest you go with a bit softer pick for the strings you got on there and to sweeten up the sound a bit.

I have one, and there is something very different about it, I put medium heavy strings on it, which makes it pluck and twang. It’s got character.

I agree there is something. Different about it. Character is the best description

I love mine, it's a very loud guitar especially for its size. Changed strings and shaved saddle plays like butter. The only thing that gives this away as a "cheap " guitar is the truss rod cover. No one believes it's $150 Don't knock China built, they've got the robots. Update got truss rod cover and a slightly used baby taylor gig bag. It's now my number 1
@JeffKeel3 жыл бұрын
holds tune unbelievably well. I put a fishman Matrix infinity and it's great with a Baggs DI

@@usuarioprivado574 there is not a truss rod cover. The Truss Rod adjustment is on the body end through the sound hole.

Not sure what they do now, but I got the first run Dirty Thirties 0 and the top was solid spruce black/red sunburst with "boxwood" back & sides - generally birch or some other inexpensive wood. It was all solid with rosewood fingerboard and bridge and bone nut and saddle. Billed as an "old Montgomery Ward" copy. Nice little instrument for $150. As I understand it, they were modeled after pre-WWII Gibsons and the like, and still use the old designs and techniques. Chinese manufactured, but they really have the process dialed in. Pushes a lot of sound and nice fit and finish. No obvious mess inside as some cheap instrument have. If he really dumped that because of the fingerboard "flaw" he's going to be very disappointed as ebony becomes harder to find and they start using the mixed black & white ebony for fingerboards. Even GC is turning to them as their business decays and they can't afford the "big names" anymore.
@JeffKeel3 жыл бұрын
yes they are exceptionally loud for being so small. Great tone and just different enough to set it apart from other guitars especially in a mix or on stage.

I want to second this opinion on how good this guitar is. I have the Single O series 9 plus. This has the solid sitka top and laminated mahogany back and sides. I think the one in this video has the black finish on the back and side and what they describe as 'white wood'. Either way, these guitars sound like vintage old time instruments, they are loud and responsive and good for slide too.

I have 2 RK Dirty Thirties, the ROC-9-TS Century 33 and the 12 string. Love them both and maybe in the hunt for a 3rd. Can't beat the value. A buddy who jams with me leaves his Taylor in the case 50% of the time and plays my RK's.

I got the Single 0 and I share your enthusiasm! I do recommend replacing the tuners. They do look legit, but man, I kind of like to be able to TURN them. I used cheap Grover Sta-Tite ones, they look like Waverlys but cost only $25 for a set.

I bought a cheap recording king parlor guitar, which was all laminate whitewood. I bought at guitar center 3 years ago, it was advertised as having a solid spruce top at guitar center and also on musician's friend. I paid 100 bucks for it and 50 bucks for a nice gig bag. I had sold one of the best guitars I ever had, a dreadnaught Alverez, a Rd20S, which was an excellent instrument, but because of back problems, I could not play it anymore. The recording king has turned out to be a good guitar.

Jason Simmonds Jason. I really can’t comment on I’ve only ever played the 9 series for any length of time. I’ve played a few in store and thought they were great. I store hearing can be deceptive if your ins. Room that’s all wood as lost acoustic rooms are. Everything rings Recording King makes great instruments. Can’t imagine it wouldn’t be great.

I keep seeing a lot of these on Ebay for parts or repair. Usually either a neck broke at the headstock or a lifting bridge. Even one with a brace that had become totally detached. I do believe they sound good and play well for a small , cheap guitar but I dont think they would stand up to constant use on the road. Nice little guitar tho.
@JeffKeel4 жыл бұрын
I think with any guitar if it's on the road will take a beating. Acoustic guitars are way more fragile due to Glue, heat, and all that. So you are probably right, however Eddy Dunlap, Guitarist out of Nashville tours with one. I am sure there are others, but he's one I actually personally know. thanks for contributing to the conversation.
