It wasn’t so much that it was the problem that led to it. It happened despite that problem which almost derailed the session. Luckily it didn’t and, yes I agree, there’s some real magic on these tracks by all these 3 individuals.

Great to hear a modernist tip his hat to jazz history. Harmonic sophistication, monster imagination. Tuneful and musical. Most important jazz guitar recording since Jim Hall's 'The Bridge.' The 'antidote' to John Mclaughlin........

lot of tone comments here, love it too. One thing that sets him apart from conventional jazz tones is the high end, he allows some of it through, unlike others where the sound is muffled and muddy....never did like that sound

For me, this is 'the' guitar tone. I know I'll never sound as good, but I just want to know what he does, and I can't even figure that out.

It wouldn't be honest if you could just "figure out" what others spend their lives on understanding and doing what they do ... I only started playing aged 28 and am 44 now. With a lot of love for playing and learning, eventhough being pretty lazy.; you can still get to learn a lot. Learn to play as much standards as you can and learn playing things of your own using what you've seen in standards and what you see of music theory. It sucks in the beginning and it will suck for a pretty long time but you'll always get closer to actually playing jazz... and understanding it. I even created a few pieces of my own by now so it is possible. And never compare yourself to legends, it only leads to suicidal tendencies... i've been there..;lol
