hard to believe it was 28 years ago that i heard about the crashed Beech 18 airplane on floats that hit an island on eldon lake manitoba. i was always told the plane was in the water but 4 years ago i found out it was on the island that it hit in the fog on August 14 1973. the fellow who was in the plane as a young man along for the ride told me he had flown over the island on a summer day several years ago and the wings could be seen through the trees. we then waited for a nice calm rainy day in july 2020 to we canoe over to the island to see what was left of the crashed Beech 18 with the call letters CF-SDS. it was a very high water level year so we canoed right up to the wings. we could not walk any where other then on the wings because of water levels being so high.
now in 2024, we are at record low water levels and decided to plow an ice road to the island to recover the wings and scrap metal. we were well organized and used the right obsolete equipment for the job. in less then 8 hours, the project was done with the wings and scrap metal in the Sloop in front of the King of Obsolete sign in the Kingdom. there was no drama and nobody quit or cried because we make it look easy. thansk
this is a daily updated channel from the Kingdom in Northern Manitoba Canada where every day is a struggle to survive in the new world we now live in. the life style of recycling, re-using, re-purposing plus living with no money is what the Kingdom has been all about for the last 28 years. we have been doing it long before it became a cool lifestyle. thansk

A very excellent and fun looking adventure. After crashing, burning and fifty years flooded in the bush, its kind of amazing that wing structure was still solid enough to load. Great teamwork by all of you, experience and good planning made a hard job look easy. Sir Rodney, your food looked so good it made me hungry and I am still full from supper! Thanks for the video and Goodnight to all...

Good morning from Cape Cod 🦈 that was quite an enjoyable adventure that you guys brought us on. You certainly went through a lot of work to bring this video to us, thank you all for your efforts. Sir Rodney, your lunch looks delicious, the fact remains I probably enjoy cold wings out on the ice recovering a a crashed plane. Johnny it looks like you had a great time out on the lake on the Ski-Doo. Little helper, I'm not sure I agree with your moniker but you did a great job operating the mini hoe. I'm a big proponent of showing things as they are and the people who like that will appreciate it@@kingofobsolete4789 . The bits of IRT that I've seen just so obviously (mostly BS) scripted that I don't think I could stomach a whole issue. Your winter roads books sure show that there is/was plenty of real-world 'excitement' to capture. Of course, maybe there are more people out there who don't know/care how much is faked.

Oh man, what an adventure. And the food !!! That was some pretty good lookin' food that both Xena and Rodney put up for all to see. Well done, everybody! Even Aggie performed well. Too bad the Yamahahaha put up a fight, but looks like you were able to get it going again later when it really counted. Xena's Little Helper really does know what he's doing on the Mini Hoe. It was good to have his spirit and experience along. Johnny put in some muscle power, too. Yes, many hands make light work. All made possible by Joey's incredible Fleet of Obsolete. It's really great to see old (so-called "obsolete") reliable machinery still out there, performing and getting jobs done. Even if the little Kubota isn't that old, it gets Honorable Mention for the work it does day in, and day out. Great teamwork by humans and machines. Even if some of them are a little older... lol. Thanks to Johnny for riding in all the way from Grief Rapids (I was there once). And of course, thanks to Sir Rodney for his mouth-watering contributions, as well. p.s. Rod, it's not really "cheating" if you do the cook and final assembly with your own home equipment. Very nicely done, Sir.

OK, Sir Rodney’s comment is enlightening. So the slush on the lakes is melt as opposed to the slush on rivers, which can be overflow. Correct? Thanks. Take care. Whoops, have to edit this. KoO says there is overflow from creeks and streams feeding the lake that contribute to the slush, but the ice underneath is thick. It pays to be very aware on this high way.
