Similar type of accidents happen on jobs. The reason why no one died is because they observed basic safety rules (may not seem like that but they did). Also, you make it sound like driving a roller is something complicated, it's not. Doing a good job with it is a bit more nuanced but driving it is not.

Training tells you to never stand in front or behind a piece of construction equipment when you are starting it. The chances of the vehicle moving is low but it still is a possibility. Where does Andrew stand when they are starting the skidder????? Directly in front of it. Insane.

Holy Cow Andrew, I thought that roller was going over the side a second time there for a while. I was on the edge of my seat yelling "Stop, stop!!!". The Adrenalin was was pumping I can tell you. The guy driving the roller needs to understand that you must never let any slack come into the tow line, that is the key to being towed well and without mishap, in my humble opinion. Mind you, those articulated machines are not easy for a novice to handle. It takes practice to get the hang of it. That was one of your best videos Andrew, I am always sweating on you posting your next video. Love your work mate and thanks for the entertainment. You're a bloody legend.

I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only nervous one watching the video. Andrew, I'm relieved to hear that you are considering a newer one as I honestly think that the one you have is a death trap for the job you seem to have in mind for it - even in the best of weather conditions. At the very least, better tyres (wouldn't help on ice I know) on the damned thing are clearly an absolute necessity or a set of tyre chains or even both! Please stay safe. A roller like that isn't made to run up icy hills so the tires are just fine for what it's made to do and tire chains on it is just stupid to put on it now when he's got it up the hill already. He wasn't trying to roll the road going up the icy hill if anyone thinks that. This was just getting it to the top so he could use it. If there wasn't ice on the road it would have went up the hill fine. When he get the rock spread out on that hill that roller will go up and down it no problem. As far as needing a newer one there's nothing wrong with this one when it's used to do the job its made for. The ice was the problem in this video not the tires, not being without tire chains on the roller, and certainly not the machine. The idiot driving it once they got it on the road wasn't helping at all either. If he drives a car with the same skills he applied to driving the roller I'm surprised he's still alive.

There is "gotta get shit done" then there is STUPID, dangerous and deadly. There was a LOT of stupid, dangerous (unnecessarily) and way to much deadly in these two videos. It's amazing no one died on multiple occasions. Shear dumb luck. You are right, the guy on the roller should have been wearing the grim reaper outfit because he was trying to get people killed. Andrew risking everyones lives by not listening and respecting the call to stop is, IDK, the essences of stupid or arrogant or something. He's risking everyones lives, not just his own. If this is what you gotta do to get views, and it's definitely NOT, maybe you should just stop making videos before someone gets killed.

Hi Im the "fool" driving the roller. what you cant see is when the tires are not spinning I am hugging the edge giving it gas causes the tires to slide the machine towards the edge. @Peter-gi3re
@Peter-gi3re Жыл бұрын
@@MattyDardani Matty, I know you have taken a lot of flak in the comments ……. But you are right ……. Half the problem was lack of communication. If the guy with the camera (who could see best what was happening) had a simple air horn and you all agreed on a couple of signals …… like for FF sake stop, it would have made it a little less dangerous. Andrew was being a bit bullheaded at first too by not stopping a couple of times sooner and checking to see how you were doing. Thank god no real harm came to anyone. I am all for a bit of fun but some common sense is needed to avoid disaster too. That road up the mountain is treacherous even in good weather and especially with sketchy equipment. These 2 videos may have been very “entertaining” to everyone but I would not recommend too many of these kind of ventures. If someone loses an arm or a leg or gets crushed, friendships and fun and games are all forgotten very quickly. Then everyone feels like a real fool when they are sitting in front of half a dozen attorneys at a deposition trying to justify why they are not responsible for what happened. I don’t want to rain on anyones parade but I hope you all learned a little from this experience and agree on a little more thought about how not to kill yourselves in a totally avoidable “accident” in future adventures. I am older now and believe me I did plenty of dumb things in my life that brought me within seconds of death. I definitely tried to learn from my risky decisions. Life altering mishaps/accidents happen when you least expect them …… afterwards you look back and wonder “what the hell was I thinking when I did that”. If you live long enough you will see stuff happen to people where they bore no fault in what misfortune fell upon them ………. None of us need to go out of our way to put ourselves in harms way. Plenty of things can happen due to the carelessness of others. Sorry for going on so long …… just wanted to offer you some defense on the flak you were getting and couldn’t help but throw in some advice too 😀 (I had an accident myself which severed fingers which was my own fault ….. and was also sued for $50m when a subs employee fell down a shaft and was seriously injured. Neither event was something I would recommend anyone to have to go through)

Maybe you left out the part where the constant "bell-like clanging & the "Chinga-Chinga Me No Eata Meata" mantra music produced by the log skidder cable hooks in the background actually added a unique sort of freezing cold mystical eastern Asia themed soundtrack to the entire "Roller Portion" of the event. In fact @15:26 In.....I lit some incense that I had laying around the house and then I let the log skidder cable hook "bell ringing sound" assist me in becoming "ONE"...... with the Roller.

That Roller is like a wounded Hippo when on an incline with Ice and snow on the ground. I agree with Andrew, if the roller also had the ability to have a drive capability, that would help greatly. The Roller he has I believe was designed for flat or almost flat compaction jobs. Not for hill climbing and in snow and ice. Which Andrew found out. Congrats to the Team for assisting Andrew in getting the Roller to the top on his Mountain Retreat. Great video,

@@berserkir Of course You're right - not many with a compareable workethic also do film what they do and then upload that on KZbin - which makes him special in a way, I agree with You in that point. The stunts and his bottomless redneckery do make for a lot of the extra fun though. As a motorbiker and somewhat of a "redneck" myself I do know how not doing everything with a safety pant, ironcapped boots and unbreakable goggles on makes things more fun by times. "No risk no fun" is still à point. Just make sure it will lead in the worst case to some pittoresque scars to impress the ladies, not to Your instant death. That's a fine line to walk, as we recently saw losing Ken Block, but he definitely had his fair share of fun up to the last breath I reckon.
