Jimi Prairiefire The reason the comedian got upset and started picking on the audience member, is because the audience member kept interrupting the comedian. First rule: Stand-up comedy is a lot harder than it looks. Second rule: Stand up comics make it look easy because they practice. Third rule: If you try to do what they do without practicing, you're probably going to fall on your face. Fourth rule: If you try to do it while drunk, you will DEFINITELY fall on your face.

Already know it, thanks. One of the advantages of teaching writing for a living; you have a pretty good grasp of the denotative and connotative uses of words. Appreciate the feedback, though!
@omarhussein430310 жыл бұрын
The fact you teach witting is unsettling.. that link shows all the definitions of the word 'rule'. The correct phrase / word to use in that context could be 'suggestions' or 'things to keep in my mind '. But definitely not rule. I sincerely hope they don't allow you to teach children. www.google.ch/search?q=denoting&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=rcs&gws_rd=cr&ei=gzrpUsyqGaiR7AbE3oC4Aw#channel=rcs&q=rule+definition&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&spell=1

It's also always entertaining when someone says "I looked that word up in the dictionary and you're using it wrong!" Omar, see also: rule of thumb, general rule. Learn the difference between "denotative" and "connotative." It's admirable that you know how to use a dictionary--now learn that the language lives and breathes beyond the pages of the dictionary, as well.

@mattis5378 жыл бұрын
god damn, its like arguing with my sister, Both mike and mic commonly appear as shortened forms of microphone, but mike is the accepted spelling in most dictionaries. Mic presents difficulties because it looks like it should be pronounced mick and because it produces the problematic participles miced and micing. Miked and miking work better. Of course, however the word is spelled, it is a verb mainly in the phrase mic/mike up, meaning to put a mic on someone or something.
@KingInky138 жыл бұрын
Mattis vik Nice copy and paste from Grammarist, however it's not correct. Look on any piece of audio equipment, and it's spelled "mic". This is also why the Associated Press Stylebook no longer uses "mike" and uses "mic" instead, arguing that as a noun, "mic" is correct, but as a verb "miked" or "miking" may be correct. English is one of those languages where the "normal" rules don't always apply, like how "vegetable" becomes "veg" with a soft "g" sound, while "leg" still has a hard "g" sound. Or how "rough" and "though" are pronounced completely differently even though they have the same last 4 letters. Hell, even you admit it should be spelled "mic" ("...meaning to put a mic on someone or something.")

However, on my behalf, I do not have any children (DNA got one wrong, seriously no DNA markers available) because I successfully posioned my nuts with a snowboard and a tree stump at Northstar at Tahoe (aka porthnars, pornstar, starthnore) yaaaup! I was the guy on the ground, "did I explode my nuts or is there something in my butt?" It was neither, I broke my Inferior Ramus and cracked my spinal vagina disk, ya, like squirt oh pain, just shoot me! No, right here right now, shoot the pain away, okay, you see that tree stump that I just broke off, ya, I did that with my butt. Oh snap no way (6 inch diameter cedar stump partially cracked through from some shruming groomer in a Benz snowcat, clipped it with the blade wing and a fresh powder had it hidden, seemed like a decent place to land) yes way, you can hear your vertebrae compressing and crushing in your ears. You may not know this scary fact about me, I once did 5 years in a Nevada Territorial State Prison (NSP era 1863) for armed robbery of a bottle of tequila, horrible stuff, cacti sperm, all posion. Yup, right to the box on that, nope your guilty and we believe the testimony of those two false witnesses that are clearly, bold faced liars. So, off I went with two, 2-5 consecutive sentences, "running wild" as the fellas would call it. A white man(he was actually black)saved my life, twice, because I just couldn't get it, ya know? I mean no man every dreams of going to prison for a crime that he didn't commit but it happens. I prescribed myself crystal meth shortly after I got out June 27th of 2007. It took me going to prison for me to become a drug user, figure that? I like to leave on a good note, with something that will keep the audience awake all night long and have them calling in sick for work. As a middle age manchild, I sometimes shart myself. Ya, oh, no go ahead laugh it up laughy, laugh and lol that to facebutt because guess what? You hit 33 and life starts to laugh back at you, hit 36 and the b-hole calls it quits, ya. B-hole has jokes now too. So, to clarify; life is laughing at you, b-hole is laughing at you, (see where I'm going with this, speaking Yiddish again again am I) and when you laugh at yourself you have the 3: oxygen, gas, and fire=shartshire. *END* rap it up, roll it up boys that is my $10,000 true life storie. Passing this burden on Dirk, passing it to you because I can't hold it much longer. Sad, true, and true some more. I don't care what you do with this story, trash it hopefully upon notification. It's an old story, an old score that is unsettled. Truth is stranger than fiction someone once said to me, who knows the original author? So...poof be gone from me story, for I will never tell you again. -From some low life guy that thinks the best part of prison was the sex(Not True)needs hard labor.

I have never seen someone utterly destroy another human being without touching him like that. Joe Klocek, you just earned yourself another fan!

this is one of the best put downs I've ever seen. I like how you keep interrupting him so he can see what it's like.

I love it when comics go off script and crush it. Very nice.
