I just discovered trail-mater the other-day, and I've been binge-watching his video's ever since, but all that laziness was justified, once I started hearing the other wrecker-guys admitting that Eric/trail-mater can show them exactly how the cow ate the cabbage, lol, much respect to all you guys, thanks for sharing.

I ran into it about 3 yrs ago now, its a H of a Beast, not sure what kind of gearing he has in it other than the E-brake he makes full use of, its a true do it all rig, with built in air compressor & all.

Watching your videos whether it’s here at Sand Hollow or in the woods of Wisconsin makes me want to build my truck out and build a wrecker similar to this. I’ve learned a lot from your videos and the content is really good pretty cool to see.

Wrecker is a heavy truck usually used in forests, mud and snow. Not ideal for rock crawling I would imagine with high power and lighter weight looks to be better. Still they got it up there with no damage, so all good in the end.

Does anyone know why the Trail Mater uses such a wide rear axle, instead of the narrower 14 bolt in the BSF wrecker? Is there an advantage to the wider axle?
@battleborn78952 жыл бұрын
Super late reply, but Rory said in one of his videos that he’s broken too many 14 bolt axles and went to a Dana 80 for the strength he needed. Not sure how much wider it is than a 14 bolt dual but it sure looks a lot wider

@@offroadrecoveryteam I did wonder if that was it, also can I ask if a couple were running on gas rather than gasoline as I noticed a couple of cylinders on them, and while I have you are any running on electric as there are few over here in the UK doing really good conversions, less to go wrong, masses of torque, doesn't matter which way up they are it all still works.

@@k13ehr Yes there are some off-road rigs that run on LP, have not seen any electrics out on the trails yet.

@@offroadrecoveryteam only a matter of time, range is the problem of course so ideal if you trailer to the event with a genny, just pull the engine and mount a motor, batteries do add weight of course but an engine isn't exactly light either, it's almost a DIY job now with all the how to videos on here.
