In this video I demonstrate how I use the Roland JX-3P to create the iconic arpeggiated synth intro in Locket's cover of the song "Everywhere" originally performed by Fleetwood Mac.

I read somewhere that this is Buckingham playing the arpeggios super slow on electric and acoustic guitar and then sped them up.

True but it was sampled through the Fairlight system, Richard Dashut has exaplined a few times that to get a more staccato bell like sound they used a fairlight. Lindsey's was experimenting with a banjo roll at two octaves but wasn't happy with his timing on the click. Richard thought it sounded great but Lindsey wanted it to be perfect so they used the Fairlight to sample the part in from a nylon and Martin steal string guitars at 2 octaves on tape then sampled the best 1 or 2 second section to the fairlight which gives it the bell like quality you hear in the final sound.

Their intro used a sped up guitar not a synth or arp to get that sound. Look it up folks.

The original sounds so devine. I immediately guessed it was coming from the DX7 due to its crisp sonics

That is a fantastic story, but actually, Fleetwood Mac did it in complete different level. Just take a look at this: kzbin.infoIjmjhYiPuvg

If you listen to the first five seconds and further in the description, apparently this guy is in a cover band called "Locket"?? He's saying this is how "their" band did the intro. Why would we want to know that. The comments were all about FM doing the intro

Nice work but Original was a Guitar by Lindsey. Recorded live and sped up. No synth for that part.

I think actually like this analog sound better than the original. I wish we could hear it flown into FM’s original version, brought to the same tempo, and A/B them!

Yes, this guy got the wrong info! Its Lindsay Buckingham on his Turner guitar slowed down then back up again according to Christine McVie. RIP. When they do it live on different you tube videos, you can see Lindsay playing the intro himself. Hes a finger picker and hes very fast. I just dont like to see misinformation online!

No such thing as a Roland dx7. He meant Yamaha dx7 and there's no point comparing the 2 since the jx-3p is an analogue subtractive synth and the Yamaha dx7 is a digital FM synth.

Disliked for starting with "What's up-"... There is no greater KZbin cliche. Forced myself to endure the presentational style in order to find out the notes to play this. It almost wasn't worth it.
