I love these types of builds! I think the only thing that this house would have is a laundry room off the garage.
@ganapatikamesh2 жыл бұрын
The interesting thing about this house design is that there’s houses like this in a neighborhood in my city. You’re completely right about the back of the houses’ windows and walls, etc. The only difference between them is the floor plans and the landscaping. Houses that were built in the late 1980s aren’t open floor plan. I have a friend that lives in one and there’s literally walls and doors between the front entry to the living room, the family room (den), the kitchen, the dining room. Picture your layout but there’s walls and doors (and the living room is sunken so you have to step down one step to enter into it). The backyard has lots of landscaping, a patio, and a pool. There’s a laundry room between the garage and the rest of the house (i.e. you go down a hallway where there’s a door to a bathroom, a closet, and then there’s a door you think goes to the garage but nope there’s a laundry room there and then a door to the garage on your right...like if you don’t step into the laundry room you don’t see the door and think you took the wrong way to the garage). In fact the house built in the 1980s that my friend lives in has lots of step up and step down areas besides the living room. You walk in and after passing by the hallway that leads to bedrooms and the garage you step down once to the living room, but you step up twice to get to the dining room and then have to step up again to get into the kitchen and then step down thrice to get from the kitchen into the back patio. Down the hallway with the main bathroom and bedrooms it’s mostly on one level but the master bedroom requires stepping down to go into. Likewise when going from the laundry room into the garage there’s a step down into the garage. From the outside the house doesn’t look like it’s elevated as the landscaping hides that, but it actually is since you do technically go up steps to get to the front porch, you just don’t realize it because the house is also built on a slight hill so most people think the steps are related to the hill, but it’s not the house is elevated and you only notice it when in the backyard. A few houses down is a similar house built in the late 1990s. It’s similar except that instead of doors there’s doorways and some half walls that separate rooms. I got to see the inside of it because there was an open house to it when it came up for sale. Then there’s houses built in the early 2000s that feature an openish floor plan: big on the living room and kitchen being connected (but separate dining room). And the newest houses built in the late 2010s do indeed look like your layout where it’s just incredibly open! My dad used to own a roofing company (among others) and the folks who did the jobs used to hate houses like this because of their crazy roofs! I mean, think about if you were going to get up there to replace the tiles about how unlike most houses where you can set up a ladder and get up and just work most of the roof, these types of roofs require doing sections then moving the ladder to do the next section, etc. And my dad’s friends who do plumbing and electrical work also didn’t like these houses because usually the layouts required all kinds of weird wiring and plumbing (not that you have to deal with that in the Sims either, but if you think about even your own layout about where pipes have to go and wiring for plug ins and lights you can understand the frustration of plumbers and electricians. And you’re right the entry is likely taller than the bottom floor and with vaulted ceilings. Most here have big windows on either side of the door and a big window above the door. There’s usually a fancy light that you can see hanging from the roof in the upper window over the door. During the holidays in December one of those windows next to the door there’s usually a Christmas decoration and the bay window type area is usually where they put the Christmas tree. Like you said, the houses seem to be built for curb appeal and I definitely agree because the outside from the from looks great, but the back and inside aren’t so great looking!

definitely have 4 kids under 7 that sit on the sofa watching ipads and wiping snot on the suede sofa. Mum says stop, but dad lets it pass, annoying mum. They have an older kid, like 12/13, who kind of hates them all. The teen has a favourite sibling who follows them around, but other than that favourite sibling, the teen stays to themself, talking about how it is soooo unfair that mum won't let them go to Dylan's house for a weekend. They want to be cool and be in relationships, but is too childish and too self centred to be in anything functional. They're also only a kid, trying desperately to grow up and separate themself from their "cringe" family. The mum definitely tries too hard to impress the neighbours, who fyi couldn't care less. The dad spends too much time at the office, secretly wanting to ditch his family, but being too scarred.

The reason it’s like that is because it’s tucked into a corner with doors on both streets, and it’s UNGODLY large because it’s a multiple family home (or maybe just multiple generations?)
