I’m a hiring manager and I can tell you were talk for hours on the pipeline and nothing on “hiring diverse candidates to fit a bill. We have to go through training to avoid bias not only from the interview itself but even just at the starting point of reading a resume. It’s also incredible to see some roles that used to say “college degree required” now no longer state that. I am lucky enough now to be our D&I trainer for new hires.

Good on you for wanting to see the data and literature. I'm afraid I don't have it at the tip of my fingers; just practices that I've picked up in my studies and experiences. That said, Google Scholar is your friend. Elicit is also a great tool: Research meets AI.

Remember that the goal is not to hire more diverse talent; the goal is to increase the talent pool from which we select the very best talent. This will increase the number of qualified diverse candidates, but we're still hiring the very best one. We discriminate based on talent, but from a larger, more diverse pool. It's like going to a restaurant with a larger, more diverse menu. You're still going to order what you want the most.
