Great ride & video -- love your choice of music, too. I was at this park with 20 college students in February 2002 for a week doing volunteer work to eradicate invasive rabbit weed. We were camped DEEP in the back country at an old corral. You were brave to head off on the dirt road as I wondered if your tires would pick up some of those prickles from the Cholla (cho-ya) cactus (the round "puffy" balls of prickles) that anchored on to your pant cuffs. Weather looked perfect! Can't wait for spring to arrive here in the PNW. Thanks for sharing.

That area really looks like a good winter riding spot. One of my friends settled in Florida near a bike trail and was trying to get me to move there, but I like the idea of trying different spot before I settle on one. My local shop got a new Catrike 559 that they are setting up for me. I want to ride it without a motor for awhile since I have a motor on my Rover and then I can swap over my motor, or buy a new one. I like the 559 because it folds and will fit into my car and maybe on an airplane if I don't add the motor and battery
@TravelsByTrike2 жыл бұрын
congrats on your new Catrike! You will love it.
@markfeldman65092 жыл бұрын
The 559 is a super trike. Enjoy it! I have ridden mine 12,000 miles over the last two years in great comfort. It’s totally reliable and a joy to ride. It joined my original Trail and I added a new superfast 700 last fall which I have ridden 3000 miles in the four months I’ve owned it. If your ride mostly trails with minimal grades avoid the excess weight of the e assist. The batteries make them extremely difficult to transport on public conveyances. Happy triking. Come ride New England in the summer and fall!
@kenmcclow89632 жыл бұрын
@@markfeldman6509 I have the Lamoille Valley trail in Vermont on my list as well as Route Vert in Quebec and then I believe the entire Erie Canal can be ridden an there is free tent camping at the locks. One of the first trails I learned about runs from Pittsburgh to Washington DC and will eventually be the other end of the trail that I ride on here in Seattle. I hope they get it close to completion while I can ride on it. The newest trail I’ve been learning about runs from Key West up to Maine which like the other will be knitted together from existing local trails. I’m pretty excited to retire in a few months so I can get riding every day. I have been planning to go around in my truck and trailer, but I may start out with my car and tent camp/B&B for awhile
@markfeldman65092 жыл бұрын
I have ridden many of the New England trails as I live right off Cape Cod. We are blessed with many wonderful rail trails and protected other trails. I lived in Pa for 42 years and have ridden many beautiful trails there. I intend to check off the great American trail across the country from just west of DC to the west coast. This summer I intend Ho drive I- to Nova Scotia for a combination triking./golf trip and possibly Prince Edward Island if we are allowed into Canada. If you make it to New England please get in touch and we will ride together. I fortunately retired 15 years ago at the tender age of 55. Been riding and kayaking and golfing every day since then.

Sylvia just a heads up you can fly in National parks you just can’t take off or land in them, you’d have to take off outside of the park an fly in and not land anywhere according to the FAA.

Lovely ride. Did you end up camping there later? After riding on dirt roads or trails, how often do you clean your trike? Dirt roads will be my primary riding style since the nearest paved trail is 25-30 miles away.

What do you recommend for pedals for triking? I have clip less mountain bike pedals now and I have problems with hot spots and cramping. I haven't seen anything about this on any of your videos and since you have ridden all over and with many different trikers I would like to get your opinion. Thank you
@TravelsByTrike2 жыл бұрын
My opinion is only my opinion - what works for me may not work for you. I use Wellgo platform pedals and Black Star Bag pedal straps. I bought them at RecumbentPDX many years ago and they are helping me relieve the symptoms you describe. People ask me about this probably more than anything else. I should do a video about this foot security system. Best of luck!

I notice that you wear your helmet extremely loose. Is that because recumbent bikes are so much safer that you don’t feel you really need one and just wear it because it’s a group ride. Not being sarcastic, really want to get a feel for recumbents.
@TravelsByTrike2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Willa, I'm wearing a new helmet and I didn't adjust it correctly. On another video, a week later, I was flying down a hill and the helmet actually came loose. I've fixed the fit now.
