I checked out multitools and they're all heavy with parts my particular bike doesn't need. So I looked the trike over, checked the owner's manual, and collected just the tools needed for my particular trike, much lighter, very happy.

The Wright Brothers (that invented the airplane) were originally bicycle mechanics.. They invented the pedals with one that has reverse thread... As you pedal forward, that is the direction to tighten, You don't want a pedal falling off. Orville and Wilbur Wright are my great great uncles.. They had another brother that was my GG Grandfather. Most bike mechanics are familiar and interested in the Wright bike innovations..

As a newbie, this was exacrly what I needed. My trikes are old and used and I like to take older folks out for rides, but there’s always something like a mirror dangling or a fender rubbing and I never have the right tool. I plan to fix them up this winter, so I will be referring back to this video. Thank you for making it!

I like your video. Would have liked if you did closeups on what you where doing though to see exactly how you where doing it. Thanks for sharing with us.

I use a chain lube called ATB AbsolutelyTheBest... it has a solvent in it that cleans and lubricates the chain.. I suspend the back of my trike, then i put the dropper on the chain and distribute it.. then i take 2 used Pulsar vibrating tooth brushes with ATB on them and pedal the chain thru the brushes.. let it sit for 10 mins, then take a clean cloth and clean off the excess.. I have a mid-drive.. and i get on average over 4k out of my chains.. Chain checking is really important.. if the chain stretches, it wears the chainring and the cassette.. That gets really expensive.

I’m afraid you won’t be seeing me in your shop as I live in Western Australia but, I enjoyed your video and will now get my tools together. I am unable to ride an upright bike so I purchased a second hand Greenspeed GT1 which I Understand is an older model but in amazing condition. I purchased my trike 3 weeks ago. The chain looks like it has had normal grease used on it and is black so that’s my first job tomorrow. Many thanks for your informative video. Subbed and liked. Kind regards, Chris.

Hey Tim, thanks for making this video! What tire psi would you recommend for a 305 pound rider on those same tires? I finally got a trike from the VA Ice Adventure HD yeah 🎉

I'm in awe. Poetry in motion watching such an expert. However I need eyes on hands on, close-up observation to learn how to do these things. Are there any Classes for bicycle maintenance? I'm in LA, Calif.

Glad you liked it. Don't let maintenance get complicated. KZbin has some great content about most repairs. You might look at Park Tools Channel for specifics.

Just picked up another one (used, this time) - the rear hubs are stuck on the axles - I am guessing they corroded on because the hubs are aluminum and the axles are steel) - anyway - I have 2 damaged rear wheels that need repairing (broken spokes) and can't get these rims off the axles on the bike - HELP.

Go down to the auto parts store and buy a can of nut buster and let it soak. Tap it with a hammer and soak it again. Keep at it. It will break free.

My biggest problem is no trike stand so changing rear tire or doing regular maintenance is difficult. Any recommendations on that?

You can use a toolbox or a cement block with wood over the top and prop the frame on that to get the wheel off the ground. Instant repair stand! Of course working that low isn't great for long but it works. You could also use a roller trainer for the back wheel and work on the trike that way.

I just made something for doing this. I had a tiny , broken tripod that I bought at a thrift store. I 3D printed a piece to make a small platform on top. I glued a piece of inner tube to the top, to help with slippage. Folded, it's about 14 inche long, and weighs just under a pound. Unfolded, it's tall enough to get front or rear wheels off the ground, without having to extend the tripod. Depending on the tripod, you could just use the existing tripod head. If later I can come up with something smaller and lighter, I will.

He keeps saying bike as he’s working on the trike.
Do you still get flat tires while cycling? But why? No more!
