Please don't consider this video a 'how-to' because it wasn't edited to help others fabricate a recumbent trike canopy, but rather show some features that are currently being considered.
I fully intend to offer a canopy in the near future but am striving to reach a high quality, afford ably priced and stylish design that will safely serve an owner for many years.
Will this design suit everyone? Certainly not! But as always, comments are welcomed but step-by-step instructions for the DIYer will not be discussed at this time. Thanks.

Thanks, Steve and others for your continued respect. As for making these canopy's commercially available, I regard SAFETY my number one priority and I'm getting real close to resolving those concerns. Most consider 'road speed' as a factor in determining the safety of a canopy, but that's because we can control how fast we go. However, the canopy ONLY recognizes AIR SPEED! Gusts of wind whether it be from atmospheric conditions or from a passing motorist can create a panicky situation that could be detrimental to riding safety. Since no testing standards have been established to insure cycling safety re canopy's, I'm setting my own as I test!

I have watched some of these development video's now. You have a very good product. I'm thinking Azub seems to win as far as trike goes and with one of your canopies. Still got to find the best powered hub battery, software/device combo though.

Azub is a good trike and a progressive manufacturer. Best wishes.

Ed, I have watched your progress & creations since the first one several years ago & each version seems to get better. For protection from the wind & rain you might want to take a hint from the boating crowd in the methods they use to attach biminis, windows & dodgers etc.

I'm impressed with your ingenuity. I work with Kydex for various knife and axe sheaths. I also make straps and sheets for other projects. It's an inexpensive product that is used to fabricate some complicated fixtures and panels on vehicles, such as dashboards, and much more. So. when I look at your ideas, I naturally wonder what the possibilities are for fabricating mounts from it. Of course that is only a small part of the many problems you're dealing with. One advantage with Kydex is that it is easily modified to meet whatever unique requirements there may be. And, it's very durable.

Ed, I am continually impressed with your ingenuity and quality of workmanship in all I have observed you doing. Thanks for sharing your videos for others to see. I always enjoy watching them. Are you anywhere near taking orders yet for your canopies?

@@LogNotching , well, it was worth a try asking so that I don't reinvent the thing. Thx. Of the two designs in your video, which version do you like?

hello, i live in France, and I wish to buy this canopy for my kettwiesel HASE, where can I find it ? Thank you for your answer.

Send me an email (logbuilder@mindspring.com) for canopy information but adding a canopy to a kett is not likely to happen soon. The challenge is the lack of conventional attachment points that are common on a tadpole trike and trying to create the loft of the canopy to be directly overhead when the rider is seated considerably aft.

any more updates on this? Do you plan to re-add the front windshield to this model to or decided to leave it off for some reason? Looking good though

James, I have a different method of attaching the front that I want to try; more of a mechanical connection that will better support the tendency for the front of the canopy to collapse downward. I also want to try using the windshield without any support rods up front as well as make the connection between windshield and canopy fabric more 'waterproof' (eliminate the opening between the two). It's one thing to imagine these changes, another to implement then and again to test them in actual-use conditions. It's relatively easy to built a canopy that performs while the trike is static (sitting still on a level concrete parking pad in the garage), but it's another to complete a 50-100 mile day ride an enjoyable experience with more features than simply shade! Thanks for asking.

LogNotching Yes for sure I can imagine. Might be nice to be able to leave windshield part up as well without the rest of the top on? Although I guess that would be harder and require more poles or something to make it stay up there without the rest. Nice work though keep going you will get it eventually :) I bet you will get some sales as well once its ready and out there as not many options atm other then something that is rather expensive etc :)
