*Woops! 6:00 Deanston VO is 46.3%!*
Please see links below for all Recycled Review Scores for you to bookmark and keep, as well as links to other online reviews.
In this review I share my thoughts on another 15 empties before casting them off to recycling while struggling to pull out dry corks and saying "fantastic" far too many times. This year I think I'll ask Santa for some core strength and a vocabulary.
This video is intended for viewers over the age of 18 (or the legal age of alcohol consumption in your region).

As always, I reserve the right to change my mind about any of these whiskies, tomorrow. So should you.

Just found the G&M Balblair 21 online, getting delivered tomorrow will be hard not to open this right away ! Have had the Balblair 99 (17yr) which is amazing and this was the same price so very happy. Also form a different online shop found Deanston 18 for $60 which is ridiculously low so got two of those ! Life is good

I love the Deanston Virgin Oak. A good dram at a great price point. I foolishly made the mistake of letting all of my whisky club members know about it, and they emptied the shelves at the local stores. Keep the reviews coming, Roy!

Hi Rob....delighted to see you enjoyed the Arran 14, and the Deanston. Ive collected many Deanston and Arran bottlings. They are fantastic and always worth replacing. My 14 ended a day ago and Ive already replaced it. Encourage NO E150. 👍🥃...by the way, the Glendronach 18 is a magnificent sherry bomb. Good call.

I’ve watched a lot of your video and have enjoyed them greatly but I’ve never commented but I felt the need to now because I feel the same exact way about the Talisker 10. You literally took the words out of my mouth. I bought it because of the great things I hear and it is a great expression but find myself going back to it to try and find that something special but it hasn’t come yet. Keep up the great work. Videos are great, the editing, the music, and the way you talk about it with passion. Very enjoyable. Slàinte 🥃

Hey, Roy, I agree with the idea of letting the air mix with the whiskey over a period of time. Each following dram has a unique taste. Only had one bottle ever get funky. That was a bottle of 10 year Eagle Rare that at a quarter left turned sour. I just treated it as the older brother who just got testy as he aged. Eventually finished it.

This video makes me purr like a whisky-filled kitten... thanks for the reviews, Roy! I just got a few samples of a independently bottled stuff, including a 17 year old Dailuaine from Signatory. Excited to try it out since I’ve heard such good things about Dailuaine (and I think John Glaser uses it a lot for Compass Box in various ways). Skål from Minnesota!

Love this format and am sipping a Deanston 12 while watching. Once I got past the neck I am really enjoying with a wee drop of water. Very nice indeed. Was beginning to think I was growing toward peated whiskys over sherryed but am changing to enjoy them all for their qualities to suit your mood and D12 is right in the middle of my experience so far. Thanks for bringing it to our attention and hence on my shelf👍🇳🇿

I tend to agree with your reviews and your opinions, and usually it's because of your opinion, that I try a whisky. But, I have a special place in my heart for Talisker (especially the 10) as it was the 10, which started my whisky journey. This is possibly going to sound a little odd, but it was the first whisky I tasted, where I could tell it wasn't just alcohol sharpness running down my throat, and after this, it made every other whisky I've tasted, so much more enjoyable. The laphroig 10 (first peated whisky I ever tasted) taught me that, peat is a fantastic thing at times, but the Talisker started it all. Other than that, I agree, it is the hardest to connect with. My favorite Talisker at this point, being either the Storm or the Skye expressions. I love your reviews, and I look forward to the next.

I just love these reviews, I get so much out of them and they do help my whisky purchasing decisions. I have been so disappointed with my Aberlour 16 purchase and seeing the 40% abv has really frightened me away from this distillery. I have had the A'bundh once and was not impressed enough to pay for the expensive NAS. Sorry I will miss this Thursday but headed to a concert. Keep them coming you are doing a great job!

Didn't know that the A'bunadh had jumped that much, sheesh! Think my vintners may still do it for £50-odd so I better hop on there before they notice! The Carn Mor stuff is pretty decent, have tried their Islay which was fine, but got a 6 year old Glencadam with them that packed even more of a punch than the normal stuff. Great value.

I love these Recycled videos. I appreciate the reviews and opinions. It's also amazing how palates and experiences differ. Personally, I will always be biased toward Talisker 10. It was the first single-malt whisky that ever opened my eyes to what whiskey can be. I can't not love it. It always pleasantly reminds me of where my journey started. But I get it. Some whiskies just don't do it for you. I love peat and many Islays. But I just can't seem to make myself like most Laphroaig products very much. I don't know why.

Kilkerran 12 is one of those (IMO) that develops great over time. Especially when you leave it for 1-2 months after opening to let it breathe. It's really decent one with many layers of complexity for a 12 yo.

This video makes me purr like a whisky-filled kitten. On the subject of the Glendronach 18, the cheapest that I can find it is $155-175USD, which is more than I typically spend in a month for whisky. Love these! One of my best bottles (I have currently) is my Tobermory 22 year. After having a few other mid-aged/older Tobermorys, I'm convinced it's one that ages VERY well. :)

I have the 12 year old Aberlour, but it's the non-chill filtered version, bottled at 48% instead of 40%. What do you think of it? I think it's really great stuff.

This video makes me purr like a whisky-filled kitten. Great video Roy. Deanston abv backwards 43.6. Price hike for aberlour abunadh is a bit too much if I can get the glendronach cask strength for about £50. Need to try the kilkerran as you didn't steer me wrong on Deanston 18. One of my favourites now.

I was going to mention the Virgin oak abv too. The fact that it is cheaper in the US than JW Black is a steal. Love the stuff.

@@StarScream0722 haven't tried the virgin oak, but if it's anything like the 12,18 and 9 year old wine cask finish that I have tried then I'll definitely give it a go

Got to agree about the independent bottlings - I keep finding the depth of character that comes with the small batches and single casks in particular is hard to beat. Once I find a distillery which chimes with me I'm drawn towards looking for something special/one-off. A local retailer had the Allardice on offer for £65 a bottle - sold out within an hour as you can imagine! Unfortunately I missed out...

Nice review again. Although I like these Recycled Review I’m glad they don’t come weekly.. that would cost me a lot of money..😉. I’m an Arran fan actually. Great value for money, nice expressions, the CS versions of the 12yrs are great as well.

Finally number 6, don’t get me wrong I don’t want you to go through bottles top fast but I wish the recycled reviews could come a bit faster as I enjoy this format of review very much.

attanangerel enkhtur: I know what you mean. I don't want the poor guy to poison his liver, but I'm always eager to watch the next 'recycled' video. There's something very honest about the format. All of us whisky fans would love to just always have everything. But when you run out of something, you have to make that ever-important decision about whether or not it's worth replacing.

Very interesting and informative! It's a fact that a whisky develops over time in the bottle. Often for the better. That's why i cannot understand some you tubers judging a whisky after a tiny sample. You seem to be a big fan of Deanston. Did you also try the independant bottlings? I just have a Deanston 2008/2019 from Signatory in my glas. Great stuff.

On average how long does a bottle last once opened for you? I've been watching all the recycled reviews this week and I'm loving it!

Hah! The cork stopper of my Bunnahabhain 12 just broke last week and had to be replaced! The botting is from 2013 though. :-) Second you on inconsistency, H2H my 2016 version seems a tad younger and less sherried. To be fair, there are many inconsistencies out there, especially with first batch vs later batches bottlings, e.g. Lagavulin 8, Kilkerran 12.

I really enjoy this format Roy. I am wrapping up my opinions and choices since I began my journey starting with the s4d's, then std's two years ago. I will not buy 40% ABV offerings, let's face it - they are doing the minimum. Regarding price, most (distiller's are watching their competition - naturally) do not (for the most part) believe in their product, rather they (I maintain) are watching the population. In 2000 the world population was 6.1 billion compared to 2018 which is at 7.7 billion. Hence non age statements. Additionally, I will not buy a non age statement, I will leave that to the rest of the population, if distillers want my $ they better have an age statement on the bottle and discipline. After all, there are only 3.1 cups in a bottle, earn my $, Lagavulin and neighbors have. These are the principles I have set for myself, so this is only my opinion. Thanks

I once had a bottle exactly like that Carn Mor Dailuaine but it had a fifteen year age statement... I would buy it on the spot if I saw another bottle of it!
