Recycling Tips: Don’t get left behind

I find the way the pickup is done in germany way more efficient. We got normal carts, without hooks for automated pickup and we only have rear loaders, where 2 guys are standing on little steps and hanging on to the truck, and when they arrive at a trash can, they jump off, grab the carts and place them into the emptying device, then they have a lever, that controls the hydraulics to lift the cans and empty them. If there is anything left in the can, they jolt the lever a bit until everything is out. Once done (5-10 sec), they place the carts back to the sidewalk and hop on to those steps. That way, we can place bulky cardboard or plastics, etc. next to the carts and even the carts can be very overfilled, they still take it all

I know this comment is very old but in america and canada we usually have trucks with automated arms and rear loaders. The trucks with the automated arms pick up the regular bins then later a rear loader comes to pick up extra waste that cant be fit into the garbage can. We also have split body trucks which can pick up two different carts by having a built in system that can sort both of the bins.

In my city when carts get tagged at 6:30 pm a truck comes and empty’s all cans even recycling and yard waste and trash go in the same truck

But if he's gonna get out to tag an improperly spaced cart, why not just move it and dump it?

Because person who fill it improperly would not take lesson and keep doing it again
