Red Alert 2 [YR]: 1 vs 7 Brutal Enemies [Death trap]

Guys, I made these videos after playing a couple times for nostalgia reasons. No need to bash me for using cheap tactics.
This is probably the easiest map against 7 Brutals, so I decided to show Yuri's gameplay in this one. Yuri is extremely overpowered in this game. I'm not very good with Yuri, but I did a decent Skirmish, I believe.
Default Settings with everything on except for choosing no Units.
Except my team choice everything is random.
Map is called Death trap.

+hasan farhat True, at that time performance problems where more common than today, so people did not rant so much about them because they where considered normal. Tiberian Sun had much worse problems, it ran very slow on PCs that where well above the minimum requirement, I remember I stall had a Pentium 200 MHz at that time with 96MB RAM, the game required only a Pentium 166 MHz and 32MB RAM. But still it slowed down when there where more than ~100 units on the map and it was incredibly low when you built many units, I remember that I once spent 12 hours (!) for one mission because of this. But it still got very positive reviews.

What version of the game are you using? Every time i tried vs 7 brutals (on 1.0.0.6 iirc), i would get attacked in the first 5 minutes by 6 tanks and 2-3 flak/ifvs from each AI. These one are very... easy from the attack frequency point of view. I know that they're brutal (brutal AI builds 3 kirovs, or 4 apocalypses for example), but they attack very rare.

A week ago I've started playing all of the C&C games in order, I'm playing Red Alert 1 right now and never played online, so do human players just typically build some infantry to stop engineers from just walking in and taking shit, and do engineers build faster in this game cuz they took quite a while in Tiberian Dawn and even Red Alert,

No starting units is actually easier if you are planning to capture the nearest 1-2 conyards at the start (although hell breaks loose after that). Having all the starting units makes it harder to capture 1, let alone 2. Just saying, you're a great player as always ;)

Those Brutals really seem to be just sitting back watching you do all this. On my computer the engineers wouldn't have taken down your neighbors that easily. It looks more like easy that you're playing on. It took a very long time for you to get attacked by anyone which I find suspicious.

LB B in my experience game play all AI usually gang up on player first I usually do 1vs 3 or 2 vs 4 all the time. those AI attack me nearly every minute but do I have a time to take a breath. most of my time use on how to deal consecutive upcoming wave of those AI more than I can plan on well organize building that made me find really suspicious as well. also serious ly weird that those AI doesn't have a dog to fend your spy of. in my experience brutal AI usually have over10+ of dog spread around it base. no cheesey walk into their base like this. I usually tag team with my friend who player as great Britain to ask him to provide me 6+ snipers all the time so my spy can penetrate their base.

i think maybe its because some of us let time slips and forgot how much time has past when the AI are building up their army. This player took the approach of taking over 2 enemy base in matter of 40-50 seconds when the game play starts. Hence, he have the economy advantage due to oil derricks. And starting armies plays a vital role because IF if did play starting army, it would have been more difficult to capture the enemy base like this one and maintain that cash flow.

As much as the Yuri faction is quite powerful, in terms of personal preference I prefer playing the Allies especially when you decide to hold a defensive ground early game. GI and Guardian GI's are quite useful for typical infantry and vehicle combat, though I do understand they are vulnerable to Yuri, clones and Virus'. I'm not a great player but I had the best matches against AI using the Allies, playing the long game or even GI and GGI rushing.

ReapingRose115 I avoid the grand canon for anything except naval defense as it has potential of causing friendly damage. a dozen mirage tanks placed outside your base in strategic positions is quite effective though for NPC's. Especially after they inevitably reach full promotion.

It's Russian. Yuri was originally a advisor to the Russian premier, so he's Russian, but they're also going for a bit of a creepy vibe with Yuri. If I remember right, the whole gimmick with the RA2:YR expansion pack was Yuri got hungry for power and become his own faction. But even in that story his Russian roots were canon. You can hear a bit of a cliche 'Dracula accent' with the announcer though. Real life Dracula was in, what is today, Romania. Romania was also a member of the Soviet Union, so it wouldn't be TOO far off the mark to maybe argue some slight Romanian flavor, depending on how much license you wanted to take with that aspect of the character.

Hm. Engeneer's attack? :) So funny and effective. After watching it I tried to replay it in RA2 (not Yuri's Revenge). But I can't. Computers built walls so early. Then I tried it on "Arctic Circle" map. And I had time to it. I sold mainbase of first computer (1500 $) and barack. Then captured 5-6 oil stations. Built 6-10 invisible tanks for defence. Some spies for money and tank grade's. 5-6 prisma tanks and I've got a victory. Wow... 7 brutal computers. So easy. Hmm... But also it was the first time ever when I played with options of minimal army at start of a game. Before I always played with maximum army.

No, definitely not the easiest map for 1v7... I can't remember what it's called, but there's a map meant for 4v4 where you have bridges connecting everyone to the center, and you can knock them out early to prevent them from reaching the center, thus laying claim to all its resources. It's laughably easy thanks to AI abuse. I can't pull off a "fair" 1v7 (I usually lose in a 1v3), but I can do it easily on that map.

I agree, a few years ago I was trying to complete all default maps' 1v7 YR and this is definitely one of the harder ones, mainly because the land mass is so connected and there are not enough cliffs and bridges to slow the enemy advance or bottleneck them. It's a good map for an aggressive player always trading units and daringly increasing income to keep up with the sacrifices, but it's a bad map for turtle-oriented players who are trying to fortify their base properly.

If you play Online you will experience some overpowered Units. The Boomers for example are way too overpowered, since they are an all-in-one navy. The Bio Reactors are very good. Yuri Prime is the only useful special unit (compared to Tanya and Boris). The disks are pretty good as well and as you've mentioned the miner advantage is really good and if you combine the genetic mutation with a grinder on the slaves you will get a lot of cash. Masterminds are also pretty op when you use them well. In a computer Skirmish Yuri is obviously op because you can trick the AI easily.

+JosephS1k Its worth noting that Gattling Tanks and Lasher tanks are already an effective stock force. Gattling Tanks are the only basic AA tank that can survive a Black Eagle shot, and when the guns spin up fully, they literally do 8x as much damage as IFVs against air.

I tended to just use initiates as you could farm larger crowds of them (about 100 at a time) and while you didn't make $250 per head it is still a substantial enough boon since you make more than enough to re-recruit the crowd as the mutator recharges.

Apparently you have no idea what you are talking about. Have you ever played online? You can have 8 MCV's which is max speed for building buildings. Similarly, 8 war factories, 8 barracks, 8 naval yards. The reason I ask if you have played online is because in skirmish games, there is very little lag, thus it may seem like 5 is the max, but online there exists lag and there is a big difference between 5 war factories and 8.
