I am super pleased with how this video came out, not to mention proud. I know it's nothing special by the standards of some other great lore channels on KZbin, C&C and otherwise, but for me I can honestly say this is the best thing I've made in 2.5 years on KZbin. I really hope you guys enjoy it. I'd love to hear your feedback on the sound levels, specifically if the music is too loud. When I was doing my initial mix I had my headphones on and turned things down a bit. When I listened to it back on my monitor it felt like the music was too quiet, so I boosted the levels a bit. Since I'm a sucker for the OST, I thought it was better to ere on the side of too loud as opposed to too quiet. Let me know how you listen and what you thought.

I quite agree with you, in fact, that the combination of the early part of the Soviet campaign with the allied campaign was even mentioned by WW in his early interviews: www.cncworld.org/wwr/games/redalert/articles/stratplus/page2.html "The missions for the Allies will be linked intrinsically to those for the Soviets, so when you're playing one side you may hear news about something happening to the other. If you eventually play the opposite side, you will then be creating its history, and hearing stories about things from the other side you may have remembered from previous games." We can assume that what is shown on the map is within the Allied/Soviet timeline, but this does not affect the specific events, which occurred in a unified manner in the early days. Over the past few months, I've replayed all of the missions in the expansion and found that they can be put together in Retaliation arrangement, First of all, CS's tagline is "Some Missions "they" won't talk about", which means that we can make limited omissions to the map, even if the mission is in enemy territory. I placed the Ukraine missions of the Ret near A5, the original Ret had a bug - these missions were placed in Romania on the map. But we can go along with it, because this point in time met all the conditions: The control of the Allied is close to Romania, and the Soviet has just discovered the existence of Chrono technology. Paradox Equation is acceptable, because Chrono itself is in a damaged state, and a damaged device may not be of value. Legacy of Tesla is also acceptable. Although the MiG has not been equipped at that time, the mission itself has mentioned that this is a prototype. The bomb dropped by MiG can be explained by Air Fuel Bomb in Nuclear Escalation. Mousetrap can be a compromise. The cover of the CS package mentioned that the Allied Press Liaison Ferdinand Santant denied that Stavros was assassinated. we can think that the assassination itself existed, but it actually failed. The Greek mission of the Allied and the Austrian mission of the Soviet followed closely. Ret manual mentioned that Carville is under the direct command of the UN Security Council, so he apparently arrived after the Allies asked the UN for help.There is nothing special about the Austrian mission, except that the goods transported in Top O'The World may be components of the iron curtain. The Soviet French campaign took place around A8. Since the Soviet Union’s offensive was blocked and unable to move forward, their primary goal was to maintain the front, and their attitude towards the enemy’s technology gradually shifted from capturing to destroying. This is why the mission objectives in Testing Grounds and Don't Drink the Water is to destroy all enemies instead of capturing related technologies. Next is the Spanish mission. Here we need to discuss in sections. Situation Critical and Deus Ex Machina can be determined to occur in Spain, because Situation Critical mentioned that the radical faction "threatening to use it on Allied emplacements". This action was more to prevent the devastating effects of weapons in Europe, and the subsequent capture of Volkov behind enemy lines made sense. Grunyev Revolution, Brothers in Arms and Shock Therapy did not happen in Spain-they happened in the Soviet Union. These missions were at the same time as A9. Due to the gradual failure of the front line, Stalin began to become paranoid and furious. Combined with the advantages of the Allied forces, rebellions and collaborators in some areas began to be common, and Kosygin also fled at this time. Siberian mission apparently took place during A11-A13, because Moscow can only be captured once. The Allied missions in Italy and Poland took place after the mainstory. Due to the plot of Ret, player is constantly promoted, and the battles in these two regions can only be unlocked after the missions of Siberia is completed.During this period, the Allied forces were no longer facing the organized Soviet army, but the remnants of the various regions. Stalin died in Moscow, Gradenko was executed, Kukov might be killed by Stalin because he could not get Chrono, and Topolov retired before the end of the war. At this time, the Soviet Union may not have a unified command organization.

@@kasrkin100 I get the feeling I'm being dragged into a conversation mid-way through. "yet again never pay attention" but this thread has only just started? I don't "forget", "pretend" not to see or "never pay attention" to the posited possible stories of WW's C&C3 Incursion or Ren 2. They never happened. The games were never made, the stories were never finalised, what we have are Isgreen's recollection of ideas that were being posited at WW at the time, and these things are in complete flux throughout development, particularly pre-production. We see this in how the TS story bible differs from the story TS launched with, and how that story bible was just one of apparently several that WW had written in pre-prod. Incursion and Ren 2 are non-canon. Please don't insert your own assumptions about my intent to try and paint me as being dishonest when the fact of the matter is the games you're talking about were never made and present nothing worth considering. The very minimum I can expect from a game before I can consider it canon is for it to exist. Just went and searched your username on my channel to see why you're acting like this is an on-going conversation, 95% of your comments are just jumping in talking about the cancelled games even if it's not relevant, such as "laugh in Tiberium Incursion & C&C tiberium (FPSgame)" on the CABAL video, which isn't a cogent thought. Same with right now, come to think of it. This video isn't relevant to the cancelled games, nor was the comment your responded to, you just saw my name and jumped. In a diatribe from 5 months ago you called me a hypocrite and asserted I "hate EA" (which I don't) followed by; "also the reason i call you hypocrit because you always look down people like me and other that knew well that the plot of tiberian incursion has Canon before EA cancel for "sake" of their money, look i knew more and both me and XYHC totally agreed that tiberian incursion has Canon but is no mean stop me to understand that EA has create by side effect from chronosphere anomaly" You kind of lost your train of thought there at the end, which was why in the last response I gave you I said "If you're going to make accusations against my character you're going to make yourself clear please", but again you're pretending to read my mind which you evidently can't. Looking back over previous comments we've been all over this before, I've explained all this to you but you keep coming back with the exact same bald-faced assertion that the non-extant games are for some reason deserving of attention and canonicity status when all we have are fragments of concepts that in all likelihood wouldn't have even made it to the final game had the game _not_ been cancelled. If you like the concepts, cool! Go for it! But I have zero reason to take it seriously. And since all this was explained to you 5 months ago and yet your story has not changed and you haven't rebutted my points from back then, _please think carefully_ before you accuse me of pretending not to ignore things and to not pay attention. And then if you do anyway, ask yourself what a hypocrite even is.

I remember 1st getting into Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn when I bought the game from my local Blockbuster Video for my Sega Saturn (my 486 33mhz desktop PC fell just short of minimum requirements 😂). I fell in love with the series straight away, being engrossed in its FMV-led story, its riveting gameplay (made 10x better by the classic audio) and it's unique selling point of letting you play (and win) as both the goody goody heroes and/or the deliciously evil bad guys (with Kane becoming an instant immortal C&C sensation with his unrivalled charisma, intelligence and shiny bald head 😆). It certainly does make a lot of sense that the campaigns do mirror each other till a certain point. One just has to imagine what happens if they fail certain missions on either side. Interesting point about how Tanya might have been captured. I always just thought in Soviet Mission 7 welp she's dead *again* given how often she appeared in expansion missions but it makes much more sense that she was possibly injured and taken away for interrogation especially when the location she infiltrated is fairly close to where her rescue takes place in the 5th Allied Mission (Tanyas Tale)
@Zaptagious3 жыл бұрын
I live for C&C lore haha. This does puts things in a new perspective... For example, I never considered Tanya could have survived in the Soviet campaign as she was seemingly burned to a crisp by the flametowers in Core of the Matter. I suppose a case could be made she survived, even if she came out remarkably unscathed :) Maybe she's got some of them Kane genes...

Yeah, I didn't really delve into as much in the video as I did in the original Reddit post I made. The idea was that at other points in the series (not just RA1) we see characters killed in gameplay and then they're either killed in the cutscenes after or captured. I guess it falls into the whole "gameplay is an abstraction" category, like riflemen taking multiple tank shells before they die.

The double continuity argument does hold merit; we see Westwood push this narrative device in Tiberium Sun, and blatantly adopt it in Firestorm. It fits with the evolution of the stories the creators told as their company became more successful and they gained more funding and resources to fulfill their vision. Additionally, I believe this narrative argument holds even more weight in Tiberium Dawn.

Pretty sure the Einstein in the opening cutscene is not the same one from within the campaign. In the opening cutscene, the time is set for after the second world war being over, thus creating a whole new alternate timeline where the Einstein of the game would clearly have no knowledge of the time machine made by the Alpha timeline Einstein, unless I'm wrong in thinking this?
@SvenVanDerPlank3 жыл бұрын
By that logic the Einstein from the opening cutscene achieved nothing. He returned to his own timeline where things remain unchanged. Either (a) he knows and says nothing about him changing history, (b) he forgets about his past actions because they happened in a 1946 that'll never happen now (but he somehow still remembers for a bit at the end of the first cutscene), or (c) he didn't achieve anything for himself and created a branch in history that's behind him on the timeline. I think the problem gets more complicated when they reintroduce time travel in the sequels and the effects are different/contradictory to what we've seen in the first game. My preferred explanation is (a) he knows, because it requires the least explanation, but it leaves the question open as to why he doesn't attempt to use the machine again.
@MinyaKinar3 жыл бұрын
@@SvenVanDerPlank If it is A: then it does open a whole new can of worms too, because the Einstein in game seems to be a completely different personality compared to the one from the opening cutscene. Honestly, when time travel is involved, it just creates issues of it's own, making it all convoluted. I would think that once Westwood changed hands in the Tiberian Sun/Red Alert 2 time, it was EA pushing them to do things. Did they want to create a Red Alert 2, or was it because EA said "This made a lot of money for you... Make a sequel or we'll can your team." They still canned the team, despite it, but yeah. Once EA got involved a lot of things just took a different route. I preferred the original games in the series, I guess you could call me a purist, but I found Tib Sun, RA 2 and RA 3 too hard and didn't really like the art styles. I never completed any of them. (It wasn't even Hammerfest that screwed me though, it was some of the earlier missions. Maybe nowadays I may be able to do it, but getting any of the newer games past the Remastered to work on W10 x64 is painful. :( ) That's not to say I didn't like the stories. The way it was told, what with Joe Kucan directing the vast majority, was just the right level of "Command and Conquer" feel, and my all time favorite cutscenes from any of the Tiberian timelines was when Kane entered the picture. "Yes, power shifts more quickly than you thinks." or "KANE LIVES IN DEATH" "IN THE NAME OF KANE" "KAN-" "KANE. LIVES!" "You can't kill the Messiah!"

Honestly WW had brilliant ideas but lacked details. Back than this kind of con seemed acceptable as long as overall quality was good. Onto the subject, there are three most famous theories about time paradox:we can alter OUR past and in the process people 'might' forget about it(Back To The Future), even our attempt to alter past is pre-set history(Tenet), or we create new alternate reality(Avengers Endgame). I personally agree with Minya. Like Minya said Einstein who changed history and the one who was kidnapped-rescued-created Chronosphere has severely different personality. Former is cynnical, serious, a bit hysteric. Personality matches the one who experienced(even though not directly) terrible war ever happened on earth. The latter however, is kinda, energitic compared to the former. You could say he's pretending to be cool or he's different because he lost his memory but former just makes him a hypocrite of sort(he's responsible of this new WW2), and latter have the problem of 'how much he forgot? Did he's assistant who seemed to know what happened after the change also forgot too? And what about all the equipment he used? Why he didn't reuse time machine could be solved much clearer this way too:because the one who invented and used it doesn't know that new reality has spawned and the one who lives in that reality doesn't know he can create one. Just saying 'he was shocked by the change he caused so he didn't' is lame. Especially with the fact people tend to try '2nd chance'. Oh and I completely ignored later games' time travel lore. Things are too wacky with them.

What I never understood is why Einstein never did the same with Stalin? Preventing both wars.
@SvenVanDerPlank Жыл бұрын
Doesn't he effectively do just that in Yuri's Revenge? As for why he never stops the events of Red Alert 1, maybe it was explicitly the Holocaust that he sought to prevent. But you're right, it's never made clear.

With the fabric of space time adjusting to the new timeline of angry Austrian man existing, everyone's memory was changed so no one remembered what Einstein did. Even the great scientist himself didn't know what he did to maintain the natural balance. That's why in Red Alert 3 when the Soviets go back in time to kill Einstein, they return to a timeline where nuclear weapons never exist when the soviet general orders the launch of the nuclear arsenal but he is looked on likes crazy cause the soviet military staff have no idea what nukes are.

I'd love a similar video for Red Alert 2 (if possible that is)
@SvenVanDerPlank2 жыл бұрын
I have looked at something similar. It seems like Allies mission 8 is the divergent point. I may one day put together complete history of the RA2/YR conflict, time travel shenanigans included, but it's not something I've started working on yet.

@@SvenVanDerPlank When's the divergence for the Soviets? Is it the mission before Romanov's death?
@SvenVanDerPlank2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question actually. I'd need to look at the maps. I think there are probably some contradictions but then there always were. The idea that Mission 8 is the divergence comes from Yuri's Revenge where both campaigns follow on from the Allied victory but the Soviets have an opportunity to play that same mission again from the other side, this time leading to a Soviet victory.
