Thank you Jana 1889 for uploading this performance by Vasily Shtefutsa and the Red Army Choir. Apart from its being a generally splendid version of the well-know aria, we should consider Vasily's age at the time of the performance. What power, what control by someone who was reaching, or perhaps had already passed, 70 years of age! Magnificent!

The echo takes away from the beauty of the performance. Maybe someone could run it through a filter and eliminate it then repost.

@Jana1889 BTW, to those who pooh-pooh this man's performance, I remember both Pavarotti and Domingo being booed off the stage. I think that has probably never happened to Vasily Ivanovich Shtefutsa!

First of all, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for uploading this aria! Do you know the tenor's name and is he still alive? This is my favorite song from the Choir's concert in Paris. What can I say? He's wonderful? That doesn't even begin to convey my feelings. He is truly singing from the heart, which gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes. He (and the rest of the Choir) could serenade me anytime and anywhere! Bravissimo!! I'd love to see more of them (minus the Leningrad Cowboys).

too much echo in the room or it's the camera that's bad, sounds awful even though I'm sure it's in no part the singers fault.

Das sollte man als Armee Chor wirklich nicht singen! Überfordert echt ganz dolle den Tenor!!!
@ThePianoSM12 жыл бұрын
The idea is charming, but such heavy-handed singing can't really be taken seriously.
@andydixon995 жыл бұрын
Oh come on! Surely you would at least concede that the tenor's performance was pretty remarkable for someone who had already passed 70 years of age.
@andydixon995 жыл бұрын
Why are you so patronising?
@deennaaw.22703 жыл бұрын
Do you have any idea how many people love this operatic music and classical music? Your comment is dull, boring, uninformed and really can't be taken seriously.
