The enemy whirlwinds are flying over our heads Dark forces are oppressing us In the battle that we were destined for Unknown fates are awaiting us. But we will proudly and boldly raise The banner of the workers' struggle The banner of the great battle of all the peoples For a better world and the holy freedom. To a battle bloody Holy and just March, march forward Working people. Must the worker still starve nowadays? Brothers, shall we keep silent? Can the sight of the gallows Frighten the young eyes of our brothers at arms? In the great battle don't let us die without leaving a trace behind Those who have fallen in honor for an idea Their names in our victory songs Shall become sacred to millions of people. We loathe the tyrants' crowns We deem that chains turn the people into a martyr The thrones are covered with the blood of the peoples In their own blown we shall redden our enemies. A ferocious death is awaiting all the enemies All the parasites on the working classes Vengeance and death for all the plutocratic Tsars The solemn hour of victory is near.

The song is clearly anti-monarchist, but from the lyrics I would say it might just as well be sung by communists as by anarchists. I don't see anything in particular from the lyrics that would make it non-communist, and it shares the communist ideas of anti-monarchism, makes references to the working class and class conflicts. It might as well apply as both an anarchist and a communist song, even if the author was an anarchist.

The tune is fantastic, I wish so much I can understand Russian. It was a great nation, it's brith inspired us, it's death warned us.
@feodorbenewolenski296310 жыл бұрын
I don't think that you in the East understand correctly what happened with our nation. Russian nation wasn't born after the revolution and didn't perish after the fall of the Union. Another thing, it is incorrect to view the history of communism in Russia outside of the international context; it was a global phenomenon (well, all-European, which was at that time almost synonymous). It didn't start in 1917, if you want to have an adequate understanding of it, you should start looking at least since the Great French Revolution to see how the ideology diverged and developed in Europe. Communism per se was born in Germany, and it was much better suited to Germany than to Russia, but it never succeeded there; moreover, by the time it was brought to Russia from Lenin (who spent most of his life abroad in the German-speaking countries), it started to loose ground in Germany itself which turned by the 1930-ies to national-socialism instead.. The communism in Russia collapsed because it collapsed in Europe, it was doomed by late 1930ies, definitely by the 1950ies, everything after that was an agony. Unfortunately Russians did not develop this ideology, and when the roots were cut, the leafs started to dry up..
@feodorbenewolenski296310 жыл бұрын
And btw the song was originally Polish and had a slightly different meaning, it's Lenin who liked it.. because in Russia Poles and Jews had a much longer and a more successful story of the revolution struggle than Russians themselves, Russians were too much backward then
@taotaozhao264910 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid you misunderstood the meaning of 'nation' in my previous comment. The 'it' and 'nation' all refered to USSR rather than the Russian nationality.
@taotaozhao264910 жыл бұрын
I strongly oppose your idea that to understandRussia's history, one need to be a westerner, or at least think in western style, and a non-westerner simply can't. Culturally Russia maybe western (concept of western/eastern culture is ambiguous by itself), but geopolitically more than two thirds of its territory locates 'in the East'. What happened in Russia as historical fact is enough for any person, westerner or not, to have a rational comprehension. Furthermore, being a Chinese, China as neighboring state of Russia has a better position to observe and understand Russia's actions than many western countries that are geologically distant. China has been aware of Russia since the 17th century. The 1689 Treaty of Nibuchu (Нерчинский договор) marked the first war and official agreement between Qing Dynasty and tsarist Russia. From 1850s to 1900s, China saw Russia's growing power in the far east. Vast Chinese territory were handed over to Russia under the 1858 Treaty of Aigun, Treaty of Tianjin and the 1860 Treaty of Beijing. During 1917 revolution, China received large number of Russian refuges. After the collapse of USSR, numerous Chinese merchant started doing business in Russia, we call them profiteers, for they bartered commodity for machinery with Russian. In cities like Harbin, Russian churches, buildings, foods and people are everywhere. We don't need to be a westerner to understand you, we are just so close to Russia that it is hard not to notice what happened inside it.

It, Soviet Union, was the only hope for 2nd and 3rd world countries, but not for the first ones. We lost the struggle for the previous century and allowed other privileged people/capitalist pigs to allocate all of the wealth of our countries. Now, more than half of the world's population is suffering to keep the high living standards of people living in first-world countries. This is the fact that must been considered by all the exploited classes of the world. Thank you, Soviet Union, for giving us hope and playing a decisive part in history.

Capitalists don't allocate wealth. They create wealth. The first rule of economists is 1.) Trade CREATES value. @@maximasforrester8689 Such is the talk of not knowing the Bengal famine or not knowing why the capitalists did it in so many ex-colonial countries. First of all, trade or your fucking capitalist free trade creates neither value nor wealth, but people create these two of them. Also, the trading system is not based on a positive-sum game, as David Ricardo and the obsolete ideas of Adam Smith propounded. Read some World System Theory that widely explains the question of why poor countries (peripheries) will ever not develop themselves. Moreover, the book you mentioned was written by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, who was a well-known anti-communist and a good friend of Putin.

@@gwynbleiddtv9814 I have read my fair share on both economics and business and am a professional in accounting. Refer to me a good book on world-system theory and I will read it but I highly doubt you've done your share of reading on anything free market. You made a bullshit claim however about developing countries that I have to call out. You said, "poor countries will ever not develop themselves." It's not proper English and it's an unsubstantiated statement that has no basis in reality so you're wrong in like three ways because you didn't even support it. There is no better country to use as an example than India. During the reign of the Soviet Union India admired the Russians and mimicked their economy based on the Soviets, however when the Soviet Union Collapsed and Indian Market was about to soon fallow a man by the name Manmohon Singh saved the economy by eliminating barriers to entry allowing property rights and slowly saved the economy. The National Sample Survey Organization of India measured the growth of quality of life items in the poorest parts of India to track the progress that a free market had on the least among them and found that after opening the economy in 1991 the ownership of fans (a very necessary item in India) grew in the bottom decile of the economy from 14 fans per 1000 households in 1993 to 94 in 2009 an 18% increase. During these years ownership of televisions went from 3 per 1000 households in 1993 to 429 per 1000 households in 2009. Anywhere a free market has implemented the lives of the poorest people benefit the most. You can find much more data in Chapter 8 of Capitalism and Inequality Role of State and Market. Honorable Business by J R Ottoson is a good book that demonstrates how trade creates value (its really fucking common sense) and Big Business by Tyler Owen in another great work. Guy you have no idea what your talking and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was a Soviet Officer hero before they sent him to the Gulags as were millions of other would be comrades before the Organs decided to torture them and operate their country off innocent slave labor

I think i should study this kind of music, for a scene in a story im writing, the scene is a kid appears in a blizzard, he cant see anything but a silhouette of a house, and a human figure approaching him, before he collapses unconscious, he then wakes up later, in an old bed with a thin quilt on him, he then sees the man who pulled im into the house, and the man's wife aiding the kid, treating him with the upmost hospitality she can give him. I think this music would help add to the atmosphere.

Damn since 2011... I've exposed myself to communist music since I was ten and I never really knew what communism was back then or even considered myself communist... Time flies by doesn't it? Look at me, thinking of the proletariat and listening to Lenin and Stalin's speeches with a lot of pro-communist music from the edge of East Germany to the Ruso-Alaskan tips of Russia to the pro-communist revolutionist songs from Spain to Finland

We were many, who believed in the Soviet Union and in the great communist experiment. However, the Soviet Union turned out to be a mere dictatorship with no aspirations for the little man. The avant garde party, Lenin argued in favor of, became another class above the proletariat. As a socialist I want more than the Soviet Union. I want greater aspirations not just for me, but for the people of the world. I want that which this song represents - namely a dream of an equal world. Last stanza sums it up very well: ---------------------------------------------------- Hurra! Let's tear down the crown of the tzars, While peoples are wearing the one of thorns. Let's drown the rotten thrones in blood, Thrones already stained purple with the people's blood! Ha! Frightful vengeance to today's tormentors, That suck the life out of millions of people. Ha! Vengeance to the tzars and plutocrats, And we'll harvest the crops of the future!

Sorry Jimmy, I'm not American, just lived all over the world including Russia , for what ever that's worth. I've worked pretty hard all my life. Seen many of my folks earning more and pissing it against the wall and then have the audacity to complain that I've more than them wonderfing why and how. It's simple, I worked, I saved, I invested and now I'm entitled to what I have without having to worry about some dead beat crying for half of what is rightfully mine.
