The whole purpose of this car is not in Newey's dream, but a way to spend more money and time in the wind tunnel, CFD and other resources that are very limited in F1. RB was just jealous of Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes for not having the same way to hide some of these costs as these companies.

@@User-dd2xv Not really. Even that feat alone was incredibly difficult to achieve, because the modern F1 engine is just way too complicated to get in a road car, that alone swallowed up a lot of budget and development hours, even then, the car today is still somewhat compliant compared to the Valkyrie, which has all the optical functionality of driving and prototype racer on road legal tyres.

One thing to consider about the Valkyrie: the initial intent was to also use it for WEC in the Hypercar category. AM pulled out early from the class as they were complaining that nobody was interested in buying their car for the Hypercar class. Considering that this class was also intended for customer teams as well, this was a big deal. Probably this explains why AM didnt give Adrian Newey carte blanche on the design.

No. He, like Aston Martin, idolizes Le Mans. He wants to go, have a design tackle the 24hr race and win in the top class. There are many considerations to the RB17 that are derived from the LMH spec that don't make sense otherwise (like the road tire limit, or the fact it is on a set of Michelin's like every car in the hypercar/GTP class, the fact it is a two-seater), much like the Valkyrie (which is about to have a go at it). I think that part of the reason that he dipped is that he could not convince RB racing to have a go at it (which is fair, endurance racing is a different kind of challenge), on top of the Horner problems. We'll see what the future holds, but I think that he wants his piece of the golden era of sportscars. I would not be shocked if he signed with Aston with that in mind.
@F1ll1nTh3Blanks5 ай бұрын
@@DuvJones I think this is the real reason he's looking at Aston Martin again. Everyone is yappin about F1 but no one acknowledges that one of the things he loves most is sportscar racing he's always wanted to bring the two worlds together right at the top. If he could make the Valkyrie win Le Man's, guarantee now, he will say one of his biggest achievements is building a road car that wins one of if not the greatest racing spectacle on the planet, even above some of his F1 championships.
@DuvJones5 ай бұрын
@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks That is the thing, Hypercar (and IMSA's GTP) class has gotten a real foot hold on anyone watching motorsport since 2023. It just keeps growing. I can see him wanting a piece of that, and with the extension to 2029, I figure that if he want in on the "New Golden Era of Sportscars", now is the time.
