haters are going to hate but Travis is definitely up there as one of the best in the world, not only for his sick style but for his contribution to the snowboarding culture. He continues to progress the sport and create something new, I don't see shaun white doing that. If you were one to think that Travis had an unfair advantage in comp and that he shouldn't have competed, then you're looking at the wrong picture. He wanted the competition to be an addition to his main goal which was to reconnect with other fellow boarders, to have fun and shred. He even invited Mark, even though he didn't do so great in comp, Travis wanted him to progress in the powder to extend his knowledge and experience in the sport to give him a different perspective and to show him the other side of the sport so he can be a well rounded snowboarder. Being the best snowboarder doesn't mean to put down the highest score, it means much more than that, you need to give back to the community and also to just have fun with fellow snowboarders.

this even wasn't about who won and who lost. it was about people from all around getting together as friends and hitting a course that is revolutionary for the sport of backcountry riding. rice had never hit this course before so his advantage wasn't huge. he is just arguably the best backcountry rider there is. at the end of the day, they all had a friend time and reconnected with each other. in my eyes, thats a mission accomplished. view it more as a bro sesh then a competition

I need to make a trip to Utah this winter. I've heard nothing but great things about their snow. I'm from the Central Valley in California, our ski resort is an hour 15 away, 1600 vertial with 8900 peak... China Peak is its name. The good thing about the resort is its low key and you can find powder 2-3 days after a good storm because not everything gets tracked out the first day.

Now, I'm not saying that Travis Rice isn't good at snowboarding, but I will say that it was completely unfair that he got to compete alongside with others. I mean, he designed the goddamn obstacles and everything ffs.

I am impressed, this sort of competition really shows off skill. That skill that comes from 10 000+ hours of riding that imprint enough scenarios into your memory well enough for you to pick out the right movement at every possible scenario you encounter down a hill you can not plan a lot or practice. Like lightning-chess, it separates the grandmasters from the rest.

this could be a 30 minute video without (commercial) breaks. i hate TV sports just because every single time they come back from commercial they re-introduce themselves, re-explain their purpose then give an update of what we just watched a second ago. Yet before the break they claim when they return we'll see some action, not just one guy then another set of commercials. Please RedBull, edit for internet to give a nice flow.

Travis Rice would NEVER let advertising get in the way of Torstein being at this event. I can't speak to why he wasn't at this event, but he was at the 2013 one. Torstein is probably the best park rider in the world and is a legend just for that... but Travis Rice is part of the reason why snowboarding is now a well respected sport and isn't banned from resorts across the world like it used to be. Travis is snowboarding...whereas Torstein is a snowboarder.

Def the future of snowboarding as the all-around elements come together--big mtn, powder, slopestyle, groomers... and you gotta love Travis. The reason why T. Rice is a legend is not solely because of the tricks he throws, but because he's one of the modern pioneers in todays snowboarding, f.eks. the making of this new form of contest. By the way, Torstein was in the 2013 red bull Ultra Natural, so that's a load of crap. Personally I'm a huge fan of Torstein, but being a legend is more than throwing down gnarly tricks and winning contests. In ten years he is probably a legend, but right now he is just a phenomenal snowboarder.
