The lack of a grass sidelines is stressing me out

It's a horrible pitch to play and/or referee at. As you saw here, throw-ins become a safety hazard. Any play going down the touch lines are a safety hazard. And because the sideline space is so thin and dangerous, referees choose to make the football sideline out of bounds (like this referee has chosen to do). This makes sense from a safety perspective, but also means there is no actual marked touchline as the sideline is considered out of play. Which is just super confusing for everyone involved.

@@kylebrown6355it’s just not a turf field built for soccer is it? Getting the pre-designed American football turfs are significantly cheaper but it causes major problems for soccer games with protruding football posts on the field, poorly colored boundary lines, lack of sidelines…list goes on and on.

I've tried rewinding to see if Black 5 was every offsides, but he is on for the entirety of his run. I have no idea what the ref thought he saw.

The AR did not flag for offside. The mechanics for close balls out of bounds is the same. Put your flag up to alert the Referee and signal for the goal kick. In any regards ball was never out on the goal line and the AR should not have flagged for ball out of bounds.

The call at 6:50 is atrocious, sorry. The players are battling fairly for the ball and one wins with his physicality - it’s expected footballing contact. The foul at 11:30 is a BLATANT yellow card for stopping a promising attack, made worse by the fact that he had just booked the black 13 for accumulation on a ridiculously soft “foul”. Too inconsistent.

not quite sure that's "blatant" stopping a promising attack. There's a defender about to immediately challenge, and he is also surrounded by defenders. Sure it could be SPA but at this level it's fine not to caution. Hard to tell if 6:50 is really a foul, but calling this "atrocious" is a pretty gross exaggeration as well. Looks like it probably is one but who knows from this angle. No need to acknowledge your last comment since I'm sure looking back on it you can realize why it's nonsensical.

@@TheMrBbab it’s as blatant as they come. It’s a counter attack with momentum and his next move it playing it to a winger who is one-on-one with his defender. It’s the definition of a “promising attack” (note: NOT a goal-scoring opportunity, in case you’re confused). Again, this comes after he’s penalised a player for a MUCH softer foul AND booked him (albeit for persistence), so you can’t say “at this level it’s fine not to caution.” The red card foul is expected footballing contact, and if you’re giving a foul for that you’re giving 100 fouls per game. Nonsense. He’s outmuscled him.

@@davidlofgren96 A caution for persistent offenses has nothing to do with what your bar is for SPA. Like literally nothing. This is why clueless spectators cry about "consistency" for completely unrelated situations, as you're doing here. If anything, he's consistent in the way that the DOGSO was a foul, and the foul for persistent was also called. Both "soft" in your opinion, but at least hes consistent.

@@TheMrBbab you missed my point. You said “at this level it’s fine not to caution”. We cannot pick and choose what is a cautionable offence and what isn’t. If he can book a player for persistence, he can book another for SPA. For optics, it looks bad that he has done one but not the other, especially given the nature of the last “persistent” offence. It may have been his 5th foul in 20 minutes, fair enough, but it looks bad if he then ignores a stonewall yellow card immediately after. Of course spectators are going to cry about the inconsistency when he’s applying law inconsistently. I would take no pride in being consistent if my decisions were poor. What’s the point in being consistently below expectation?

My point is the players at this level aren't very skilled, so the bar for SPA is perhaps higher, because just one player with some speed isn't necessarily promising. My point about consistency was just to counter you calling him "too inconsistent" so at least now you have admitted that you're wrong about that, and that he is consistent, or in your opinion consistently bad. Your comments would probably come off better if you refrained from using huge exaggerations "Atrocious" "as blatant as they come" etc. You know that those adjectives aren't accurate yet you still decide to use them. I could show you 100 clips of much more blatant yellow cards, and 500 clips of clearly incorrect decisions. Having a different opinion than you have on borderline decisions while sitting on your chair is just not "atrocious".

@@ejburke8271 The AR had the best angle to determine whether if it was a foul throw, his flag went straight up and indicated a defence team throw, so it was obvious that he wasn't signalling an offside

@@kevinxue3098 - I was mostly referring to the fact that the sidelines are about a meter wide and with the track adjacent, it's unclear where they're supposed to make all of the sideline calls or to safely stand when throwing.

Law 15: At the moment of delivering the ball, the thrower must.... have part of each foot on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline. The thrower's left foot is fully inside of the field (not even close). Although this again is a specific issue with this field, which is not properly equipped or marked for this level of competition. I doubt the thrower would make that mistake on a properly-marked pitch.

I have watched alot of these games and the Referees and also Assistant Referees always make the games about themselves. They are very poor and seems like they have never played the game either, just read the refs book/guidelines.

By far the best ref I've seen on this channel. The only clear mistake was the ball not having crossed the line when they scored. But they was more the linesman's mistake.. But the red cards and the penalties were all spot on. Hats off to the ref. Anyone who says these decisions are not correct has zero ball knowledge.

Should have been a yellow @4:44 No shot that should have been a red card, thus altering the game. @9:00 Keeper should have been given a red card @10:04 Should have been a yellow Given the yellow @11, there should have been one given @11:30 @16:37 Offside was completely incorrect @18:30 that ball was no where near out. They don't have to be perfect, but this was far from consistent.

4:44 both were clearly going for the ball, never a yellow. No idea what red card you are referring to. 9:00 player was never going to score, so yellow is only good choice here. 10:04 Just a duel of which you a dozen in a game. Never a card, just a foul.. 11:30 they are down 2-0 with 10 VS 11 and they make an build up foul against the other team. No ref would give a yellow at that moment of the game. Ref showed he is feeling the game at that point, great decision. 16:37 there's no way you can see if it's offside or not from that camera. The linesman probably felt it was just a slightly more off than on. In the end, nothing came from it, so this decision doesn't even matter. Ball out was the only fair point you made.

His game management was top-notch, and he was on top of everything, including that very play when he scurried the players away from his AR.

This has to be the worst display of refereeing i have ever seen. That one linesman was pathetic. Throwing out cards like it was candy. And offsides that were so far from being offside that Stevie Wonder could have seen it.
