This work is outstanding! Specially being a genuine run & gun in the most diverse kind of uncomfortable working situations. My respect and admiration. Getting this unique images is pure art. Even more If we think it was produce without any crew at all. Since this spot's mission, besides showing the incredible nature in an incredible way, is to sell the camera (which I've already bought) It is very very important for most cinematographers/filmmakers to know which sensor and lenses were use for real in order to analyze and understand how each piece of equipment performed in each situation. In other words, was that incredible shot I love taken with a Scarlet W with a Sigma 24mm lens as seen on the making of or It was shot with a Helium 8K with Leica Summicron-C lens as it's described on the video info?? There's a few bucks between these two settings and we might get surprised to know the real facts. Right? Thank you so much.

Thanks Shannon!!! Here are they: 00:29 00:33 01:05 01:38 02:04 02:56 04:21 04:54 04:59 06:28 07:30 Again, thanks! For your images and for your generous feedback. Means a lot.

Oh gosh you're testing my memory here, there are a few off the top of my head - 00:33 (polar bear) shot on the Scarlet-W with the Sigma 300-800mm 01:05 - Was shot by both Russ and myself on two diff camera lens combos so not sure which was used. Russ was on a Helium + Leica from memory and I shot with the Scarlet-W + Leica (can't remember focal lengths 21 and something else). 02:04 I shot on the Scarlet-W with Nikon 105mm Macro 02:56 I also shot on the Scarlet-W with Nikon 105mm Macro 07:30 Was shot from two angles, one on the Scarlet-W and one on the Helium. I suspect this shot was from the Helium given the low light situation, which it performs in better than the Scarlet. Lens, I was using a Nikon 70-200 on the Scarlet. Helium, I don't actually remember. Hope that helps. The others I don't remember or didn't shoot them so can't be certain.

Absolutely beautiful, probably one of the best Red Collective videos. In the description it says the video was shot on the WEAPON with Helium 8K S35, but I spotted what I thought was the Scarlet-W. Was the footage mixed together in the final edit?
@Shannon__Wild7 жыл бұрын
Indeed it was. This was shot over almost two years and in that time we upgraded from the Scarlet to the Helium :)

I don't mean to undermine Shannon, as she has been a major influence to me with my own wildlife photography hobby and I still do admire her work tremendously, but my nitpicker mind (when it comes to wildlife facts) can't ignore the part about Komodo dragons as it rather bothered me because they have a very poor eyesight. Other than that, I absolutely loved the video and following both Shannon and Russell on social media, it's amazing to see more BTS footage of their journeys.
@Shannon__Wild7 жыл бұрын
There is still some debate regarding their eyesight, they don't have rods, so we know they see poorly at night, however my experience with them and other monitor species over the last 20 years is that they have quite decent eyesight and can visually respond quickly to movement. Regardless, it does not negate the fact that they have large eyes and when in their presence it is very easy to see if they are looking in your direction or elsewhere and even to the point of seeing their pupils dialate and contract as they focus, which was the point I made in the video.
@JaysWildlife6 жыл бұрын
I actually wasn't aware of that debate, I've only read about them having poor eyesight, never honestly came across any other info of it, which is where my initial comment was based on. But admittedly, I'm in for more research if this is not the case, so thank you for correcting that and also for explaining the point you were making in the video, as that also seemed to get lost with my brain only focusing on that what I mentioned. That explanation actually makes the point in the video, come out very differently to me and makes a lot more sense now :) Thank you, Shannon!

0:53 This is hilariously ironic. She's sitting there talking about how challenging and difficult her work is (Which it very well might be), as she sits around people with clothes that are destroyed, holding in her hands a camera that costs more than those people will see in their entire lives.
