We’ve always wondered how long it would take to walk across the map in Red Dead Redemption 2. So one night, Shane was bored and decided to give it ago. Just walking, I started as far south west as possible, and walked all the way to the most north eastern part of the map. You’ll see a couple of quick fades in the video, I stopped recorded and restarted instantly to ensure I didn’t lose any footage. Sit back, relax and enjoy the most stressful 3 hours walking of my life. The Law got involved and so did some animals! Any questions, drop them below!

Me and the boys just walked from Tumbleweed to Armadillo to Blackwater to Strawberry up amount Hagen down to Colter south to Valentine east to Van Horn North to Annesburg down to Emerald Ranch down to Rhodes and finished in St. Denis. We visited every major town along with a few points of interests. It took 4 1/2 hours and nobody will know it happened except for the few people reading this

Well, the encounter at 55:28 while entering Hennigan’s Stead was rather funny :) And what composure and absence of any haste while leaving the scene under investigation! 1:13:36 - near Macfarlane’s, start of a very peculiar encounter with 2 riders going the same direction, only one of which found the road wide enough to pass. His mate’s ego was too large to fit unobstructed, so he was helped with a couple of bullets, and then his horse dragged him away and conveniently dropped him on the tracks! You can’t make this stuff up :) 1:27:21 - a lone wolf attack at night, in Tall Trees past Bear Claw, the wolf dispatched with one shot. A cougar attack at 1:40:12, just before leaving the Great Plains, survived with no Dead Eye! And casual littering with cans from refreshments afterwards. For Jack or Uncle to pick up later, no doubt. :) 1:46:18 - ah, a damsel in distress not assisted, tut tut :)

I finished watching the entire three hour fifteen minute and thirty four second video of John Marston walking the entire map of red dead redemption 2. It was well worth it. The map seems really big... until it's put into perspective. I figured the same, 3 mph, just over 3 hours to complete the journey... around 10 miles. Which means the map is only about 50 square miles, including out of bounds areas. That's a fraction the size of most counties.

It's weird you thought it was too realistic. I was dissapointed a bit at the lack of realism it advertised having. Decent cowboy video game and I don't even like cowboys beyond small quick doses of westerns. It did show me what gaming was advancing, animation and locomotion. Still, gta4 did a few things better than red dead redemption 2. Like disabling enemies non lethal using bullets, at least red dead added a ko system. Very satisfying. Even red dead 1 did a few things better than 2, like actually being able to disarm enemies by shooting their weapons. In red dead 2, you can shoot a enemies gun all you want and they almost never drop it. When they finally do they just pick it up immediately or pull another gun out. Wtf.

This game is dead, because of the really bad Tap x nonstop horse conrtolls that only work for running.. the lack of great shooting controls ( uses a outdated tank control system ) and they refused to make a undead nightmare 2 dlc. Mexico from red dead 1 is there, there's also a bunch of land north they don't allow players to see. For some reason they added a prison way after the games launch as well. That's a lot of development work for.... idk why... It's a dead game. That even when played, was so heavily ruined by griefers and cheaters it wasn't even playable unless you were alone or had friends. I'd rather see something like this for a elder scrolls game, with online. Eso is lame.

Looks like 3 miles per hour real time walking speed, so 3 hours x 3mph = 9 miles. Thats one small map. But its big enough for a cowboy game. Gotta say, if they would have made carrying capacity more limited, had more emphasis on needing food/ rest/ changed the aiming controlls to how they originally planned resident evil 4 to be ( which was like gta4s lock on system but a free aim version of it, perfect idea ) and added a UNDEAD NIGHTMARE 2 dlc, boom, red dead wouldnt have died so quickly. People played this game once and called it quits. Maybe twice. Definitely only needed the aiming change, the horse control change and a undead nightmare dlc to stay relevant. Even works perfectly as a "gta" universe game, which, it technically is officially just that. Seems like mafia was originally going to be apart of gta, would have been awesome honestly. Its a bit more serious n less weird which i appreciate. Only real issues with mafia remake is the strange physics engine, the lack of a clutch, and the lame af ram button. I also thought the eletric wire web on a bridge was completely pointless. Really wanted a mafia 2 remake but instead they ruined the original game a little with the remake. Sad. Huh, you know, now that i think about it, a few cars from mafia did make it into gta 5's online, so did tommy angelos suit, and a few things from red dead. They all very well could be connected. Interesting.

I was laid-off during covid so I had a lot of time in my hands. I had just beaten the game and started online. I decided to walk around the perimeter of the whole map. Not run or jog, just WALK. It took me a little less than 71/2 hours. It could've been way less if it wasn't for random players, ambush attacks, and random encounters that took some of my time. As for the content creator, good job. I know it took a lot of time and patience to do what you do. After me walking around the map, never again lol

So... it takes about 3 hours to walk from the southwest corner of the map to the northeast corner. The average person walks about 3 miles per hour, so that means you walked about ten miles. A rough estimate based on that says the map is approximately 50 square miles (counting out of bounds area). The average county in the great plains is approximately 1,000 square miles, just a bit smaller than the smallest state in the US (Rhode Island), yet we're told to believe that 5 states fit into 50 square miles. We need bigger maps, Rockstar...

So from the Sea of Coronado, to Willards Rest is about 10.4 miles in RDR2? -3.2 (average walking MPH for a male in his 30's) -3.25 (roughly the hours in this video) 3.25 x 3.2 = 10.4 miles. No, I didn't watch the whole video to account for stops, or random battles, etc.

and this map never seems to disapoint.. its amazing the different levels of this map, big city, small towns, deserted areas with no one around, swamps, great awesome lakes, mountains, imagine if they actually do remaster this for the Next Gen style, and graphics
