This song reminds me of Arthur while he is travelling the land, he's slowly witnessing everything is starting to change. How the old wild west being covered in oil industries, railroads being built, small towns turning into large cities, every houses having their own electric lights, and most of all outlaws slowly becoming extinct. It's just kinda sad that Arthur's wild western days are slowly coming to an end, and the world that he once knew is slowly disappering

I believe the version in "Our Best Selves" is a corrupted version of this one which also plays in the first train robbery mission. It's to emphasize that things have fallen apart, in fact I hear hints of it in this soundtrack. It's really the perfect foreshadowing of Arthur's death. It ends more or less how it started, except under much different circumstances. It's really sad to think in retrospect about, but the depth in the game is unsurprising given it's Rockstar.

@@christopherorozco1021 those were my exact thoughts on the final version of “our best selves” it really foreshadows the fact that it was Arthurs last day alive. All of the music in this game is fantastic but the series of reprisals and remixes that this particular track receives really is incredible, each has it’s own unique theme and feeling it wants to convey. I can’t say this with 100% certainty but the track “blood feuds, ancient and modern” and it’s variants like the trailer 3 music vaguely sounds like an accelerated version of our best selves. I’d have to slow it down and lowed the beats per minute to know for sure though.

I hopped on a few freight trains and went from the East Coast all the way to the Rockies, and couldn’t help but think about this song as I rolled past the infinite suburbs and highways, and the constant advertising for hotels, apartments, casinos, useless products, gas stations and other pollutions of the landscape. to think that we took this beautiful, pure land we see in RDR2 called America and turned into what it is today, christ bro. i feel Arthur and the gang in a completely different way than just the main story now. the destruction of not just a way of life, but everything held as important and beautiful
