Please note (as is in the full video): this is just a quick way to get your dot “in the ballpark”. Your red dot setup may not cowitness with your iron sights at all and that is okay. It’s a completely different siting system

My holosun dual green/ir laser aiming device has elevation adjustments on the side and windage on the top. Nobody could get it sighted in until we read the instructions 😂

To be honest, with the way my mind works, that should be the default, not what John said, because turning a screw on the side basically up and down for elevation and one on top left and right fo windage just makes sense!

But that's not how screws work. Because with the screw you pull or push an object. @@deranathonarkantos6712

(Results of Over Policing Violation of Basic Human Rights- Conditioning/Pacification) If allowed by "law", a Mexican police force could happily collect their families, move to the US, occupy, and police, an American town, and could perform their duties as good as US law enforcement... On the other hand US law enforcement could not occupy, and police a Mexican town, performing their duties....The US is a government. Mexico is a people. Give and American a law and they will follow it

Newbie here for a sight. Why does one need a red dot if you have iron sights? Wouldn't the red dot just be on the front sight?
@Ravens_and_Lilies14
@Ravens_and_Lilies14 8 күн бұрын
I believe the thought process is that a red dot is easier to acquire, and often easier on older eyes. You can get them where they co-witness (line up directly with the sights) or lower 1/3 co-witness (where the sights are slightly lower than the dot). The problem for me is that to use one effectively, you need to train with it, and I don’t have a ton of time/ access to train with something new on a regular basis. I’ve always just defaulted to a high viz front sight and stuck with that, but there’s a valid case for both.

@tylerx, the main draws to a dot optic for me are 1) target focused sighting 2) single point/plane of focus, 3) ease of adjusting zero compared to irons, 4) consistent sight picture across platforms. Namely, a lot of irons are windage adjustable (with the right tools) but not elevation adjustable other than literally filling them down. Dot optics make zeroing to your exact preferred distance and sight picture trivial with just a little tool you can keep in your range bag. 🍻
@gunderson-powers7161
@gunderson-powers7161 8 күн бұрын
I personally like to ditch the irons all together. If the glass breaks, you can't see the irons through it anyway. And you should be training with the optic occluded anyway
@SplashOfOrange
@SplashOfOrange 8 күн бұрын
@@gunderson-powers7161 spot on, training occluded is underrated, underappreciated, and undervalued. I ran an entire handgun course with an occluded optic and no one could even tell, at least out to 25y shots. One benefit of shooting occluded is it guarantees the reticle will be against a solid consistent backdrop and won't get washed out in varying light conditions.
