As a Native I find Native hip hop to be very focused on real life situations, which I really admire. The positivity from music like this is important, especially for me. I'm recovering from drug/alcohol abuse, and face depression/anxiety on a daily basis. I constantly wonder of my ancestors and wish they could see how we are treated today as the smallest minority on our own land, it's truly disappointing to know that most of the population can ignore us while we suffer and are oppressed by the same government that reduced us to the little groups we've become. #staystrong #NativePride

Im older 46 dont do tha whole hashtag shit. But fams I feel you. I was raised catholic. Im a California Native. And that shit sucks. Its hard to shake off. That colonists type of living. Catholic guilt trips are crazy. Ive come to learn. Our creator and mother are not like that. We all have our path. Some call it the Red road. We just have to live it. There is no wrong way as long as you. Follow what your called to do. And only you on your own. Can make your path. Talk to some elder Natives. They will help if they can.

Update: Two years after my initial comment, I've completely forgotten about this. Thankfully I've found it again, because I've been in a terrible mind state lately. I am relieved to say that I no longer use drugs, I only drink alcohol on occasion, and I never drink too much whenever I do decide to drink. I've taken some big steps in this past two years alone; I bought a car, which was paid in full with cash, I've moved into an apartment with my girlfriend, and I'm currently waiting on a raise at my job. I'm just faced with the issue of my self worth. I find myself constantly asking if I'm even good enough for my girlfriend, if I'm ever going to be successful in my music career. I'm worried because the one passion I did have, which was making music, I'm starting to decrease in interest and creativity. Finding this comment, though, has made my mind feel alleviated. Just to be reminded of how far I've come, how hard I've busted my ass to be successful. I would just like to thank those who responded, or even just took time to read my comment. #StayingStrong #ProudOfMyself

As a Native American male, I to daily am consistently reminded of the losses we have suffered. Here in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. I live in what was once Kalapuya territory, this place was once pristine, with fresh water everywhere, fresh air and at night a amazing view of the stars thrown into the sky by ferret, who was trying to hide them. There was cultured and trade. They had contact with the tribes in all four directions, and even though they all spoke different kalapuyan dialects they could all still communicate with one another. They burned the valley floor every 3 to 5 years to cleans the valley of unwanted vegetation, they created scrub oak savannahs for the animals to use as shelter, and the surrounding vegetation to eat, which in turn helped the Kalapuyan people to thrive for centuries. But unfortunately, when ferret threw the stars into the sky, he also let out spirits like death and diseases. The natives of old were extremely healthy, they ate well, exercised every day, prayed every day and bathed everyday. It said that a average work day was about 4 hours, this was a bit more for the women, but the women were respected and many times became leaders themselves. Then, those same diseases that ferret let lose were brought here by the boat people from across the seas. I don't need to go into that, we all live it everyday. Its a horrible tragedy I live with daily, a memory I can't escape. A horrible jail in my mind. Me I'm not Kalapuya, doesn't matter my tribe. At one point in time, this happened to every tribe on these shores. Very few escaped the genocide that happened here. You can disagree, but look around. You will see that what I am saying is true. This isn't to point a finger, I'm not blaming anyone, this is just how things are, and it's sad.

I understand. As an African American and half Shoshone person, I can say that I have felt the pain of both sides. I think we as minorities need to rise to end the oppression that has ruined our lives. But remember, we are still here throughout everything we've been through! We are still here. That shows how strong we are as a nation.

oh god I had never heard of the smallpox blankets and I looked them up and it made me so sad! this is important stuff that they really need to teach in schools. I could have gone my whole life not knowing the full extent of Native American struggles and what white people did. meanwhile schools teach the white perspective on everything and gloss over the bad parts of history.

As an African American as you say , bro African American people are more wealthy then many tribes and y’all yet to still cry freedom those wealthy African Americans could go back to there motherland and contribute and make Africa well again ,unlike our peoples we can’t cuz the white man aka Anglo Saxon, Caucasian, still fears the natives that’s why they strip us from our land and put our peoples in reservation, with NO POWER ,but African Americans have enough to help build and help its people in there mother land .

haha ya catholicism is wack, however, so is buring sage. Burning sage might make you feel a certain way, but you should know that witches and warlocks burn that too, and more. In this current time we cannot talk with ancestors, the "Ancestors Grandfather and Mother earth" you've talked with are deceitful spirits in disguise. By the way, Jesus isn't His Name, there's a reason people say HalleluYAH, which means "praise YAH". Some spell it HallaluJAH, but it is important to note that there is no J in Hebrew, as I think kawoq is implying. The color red is thrown around a lot, lately I've heard about "red China", I don't know enough about that to comment on it though. Does that mean there's a blue China or an orange China? What do those colors mean? No I'm not supporting China, I just like to ask questions instead of believe everything I'm told. By the way, I think we can all agree the most dangerous immigrant arrived in 1492 i.imgur.com/F7cnSrf.png

I’m only a small percent Native American, But, it’s the part of me that I am most proud of. It breaks my heart that indigenous women are going missing, and the indigenous people of this country are being treated so poorly.

Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma . Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek, 1830.
@jasonprincton6333
@jasonprincton6333 5 жыл бұрын
This was the first removal treaty carried into effect under the Indian Removal Act. The treaty ceded about 11 million acres of the Choctaw Nation in what is now Mississippi in exchange for about 15 million acres in the Indian territory, now the state of Oklahoma. The principal Choctaw negotiators were Chief Greenwood LeFlore, Musholatubbee, and Nittucachee; the U.S. negotiators were Colonel John Coffee and Secretary of War John Eaton.

I'm always going to be here! My memory will live on in their minds into their DNA so they remember my Descendents.
