This game is so much fun. I know the selling point is the destruction and while that’s excellent in it’s own right, I had most of my fun just picking fights with the EDF and standing my ground while the difficulty ramped up and more Guerrilla reinforcements joined the skirmish. I usually fight to the last breath or make a break for it when I’m about to die, which then leads to an exciting chase. Anyway, if you were thinking about buying this game, stop thinking and just get it. You won’t regret it.

You guys are forgetting that bloodstain was in dev and announced way before when the switch was still being called the nx. Also only select developers had dev kits. Porting that game when it was builded up for the other consoles WHILE ALSO porting to a new console you know nothing about. Its hard. Give them a break. And at least they are fixing it. When games are done right they are. Look at crash racing that came out. Looks good af on switch. Just wait and quit bashing.

I grabbed this for 10 bucks on the Eshop sale. I think they fixed the loading times. So far the most annoying part is the friendly ai. They just love to group up and huddle in front of my vehicle. I just run over them 😂

Crackdown's 3 cloud wasn't exactly to calculate the destruction. It was mostly to sync it across all clients, so the world is 1:1 to all. With local physics this is not possible.

Totally agree with Spawn about the load times. So infuriating! Other than that, this game is so much fun! I just picked it up on sale for $7.49 on the e-shop yesterday. It sure as hell looks better than it did when I played it on the 360 and that’s good enough for me. I don’t notice any performance issues with either handheld or docked. I’ve never tried the multiplayer before but I may give it a shot this time around.

Chronologically I think this game was actually a sequel to Red Faction 1 - which ended with the EDF presumably saving Parker and Eos, being the back-up you call in. Somehow I've finished RF1 five times (once on PS2, four times on PS4 to get the Platinum trophy - one for each difficulty level, since higher difficulty levels don't give the trophies for lower ones...) Guerrilla's concept is that the EDF end up being much like the Ultor Corp they replaced and so end up being the new villain generations later. Is it actually that surprising that a 10-year old game runs on this console given that Doom (2016) also does? Though I think this game was quite heavy spec-wise for 2009 - for example, CoD MW2 and Far Cry 2 ran much smoother despite being titles of that time. I still remember that multiplayer mode where you have to cause as much damage as possible. The team that damages the most wins.

I’m guessing the constant long load times is because it has to revert everything back to before you fail whatever mission you happened to fail, which rebuilding assets could take a considerable amount of time unless you run the game on faster storage, as that’s where the bottleneck is on the Switch when it comes to load times. Well, it could be worse. Sega could decide to port Sanic ‘06 and then we’d have to deal with constant load screens throughout the game, along with buggy gameplay, lol.

I have every Red Faction game, and while I wasn't a fan of the switch to third person, I absolutely love Guerilla. I've played it more than all of the games in the series even though I'd have to say the first game is the best of them all. Armageddon was garbage and RF2 was okay, I mainly only played the multiplayer with my friends, tons of fun. Now I'm hearing a rumor there might be a new game, Red Faction Evolution? Please God yes! Give us the destruction from the first game and Guerilla combined and stay away from everything that Armageddon was.

It is because this was a very demanding game even on the older hardware of ps3/360 (this title was technically REALLY ambitious for it's time) that even my fairly fast quadcore/ati4850 pc of the time struggled with it). So to see it running on a much smaller console in your palms, and running well with improvements over the original... Is pretty darn cool i'd say! ;)
