Red fox in action - Successful vole hunt

Have you seen my latest showreel Wild Czechia 2023? How did you like it? 🤩
While archiving the final video clip, I came across this documentary footage of a red fox, so I thought I'd throw it in here for you in full length. It's not a miracle, obviously I'll have to wait a little longer for the dream catch filmed from a few meters away. Still, I did manage to capture the moment here when the "mousing" fox successfully takes down and swallows a vole, so it's probably a shame to leave the shot sleeping in the drawer.
How do you film such a thing? By accident. During our stay in Šumava this year, photographer Janek Pokluda and I were walking around the forest one evening when suddenly a rusty spot in the distance caught our eye. So we hopped behind the bushes, briskly unpacked our equipment and tried to document the fox, even though it was at least 150 meters away. After this successful foray, I tried to lure her closer, but unfortunately she was no longer interested. With a full belly she disappeared happily in the dense spruce forest.
