BEAUTIFUL!! I have been a cosmetologist for 20+ years. That being said, when I started out it was cap hilites only. Then came the foiling, which we didn't cover that much at all in school. So I worked so hard on perfecting my foiling technique! My clients looked like their hilites were growing out of their scalps. And now, they want it to look natural, lived in, with a root. 🤦 LOL Moral of the story : CONTINUING EDUCATION AND COLOR CLASSES THAT TEACH THE NEW TRENDS ARE SO IMPORTANT!! And of course, Jamie Dana is awesome and her videos are amazing, as well as her work!!

I am a redhead and I have lots of red haired clients as well which I love...I often highlight to a deep gold with lightener and 5 vol to control the lift and other reds for dimension, works well! That was very pretty!

I definitely have some redhead clients ! And being one myself I found your technique very similar to what I do on my own hair . I love seeing that dimension in all the hair colors. Definitely the blondes outnumber us copperheads but they are money makers either way !

Back in 2002,i was assisting a great stylist and she always did the root and hilights over color and regardless of what level. i still do that technique .you are such giving person . I normally dont shampoo red hair and use a cool water. keep the great job and i"m very thankful for your wonderful job.

Just an FYI for all of us “cheapskates” out here. You can use petroleum jelly on your skin to avoid the staining from the colored dye. I always do this and make sure I get my ears, and back of neck. You dont need the special one she used.

Also, color gets color off the skin so if you do what she just did and massage the hairline with the haircolor already on the hair, it will remove the unwanted color on the skin!
