Kyle, Did you ever figure out that the bike stands are supposed to clip onto the back wheel which is why they are thicker. Hopefully that saves you from trying to precariously balance it on your shelf!

That's about as Plain Jane as it gets for a motorcycle. Not quite worth the price tag.
