Tips And Comments:
Playing Technique: Played next to the bridge pickup, low strength for intro/verses, high strength for everything else. Both pickups on, full tone
Gear Sound: Added low end, some bass and treble, boost around 1.5 k, cut a bit of mids, high gain. Both DI and amp. Not quite happy with the tone, i think i needed newer strings
About The Song: Transcribed from the studio version with help of isolated bass, live videos and clips

BECOME A PATRON TO GET SONGS/TABS: www.patreon.com/coversolutions Obviously a great line. I had no fresh strings while recording this, so the tone is not that bright as i wanted it to be. I had to raise some highs to compensate for it. For the main riff is very important to practice it slowly at first, getting the nuances. Controlling the resonance of the Low D string may be hard also, try using your RH thumb to mute when needed to. I'll wait for your questions on the comments. About harmony, the song is centered on the key of Dm, approaching more into F for the Chorus/Intro. The line itself uses lots of good inversions in the Chorus/Intro, then goes on with a riff centered on Dm7 and on the choruses mostly supports with the tonic with fills on the same key. You could say there's a Phrygian approach on the Eb played on the riff, but is very subtle. Other that that, it remains mostly diatonic: Dm Key (relative to F)(B's are flat) I Dm (D F A) or Dm7 (D F A C) for this case (extended harmony) II Edim (E G Bb) III F (F A C) IV Gm (G Bb D) V Am (A C E) VI Bb (Bb D F) VII C (C E G) I'm open for suggestions, corrections and whatever opinion no the comment section

That’s what I was just thinking Flea was like “let me just totally make a upbeat funk riff and see if Anthony notices since he doesn’t play any instruments and frusciante is so bad he’s just going to be happy I’m taking attention away from his whack guitar skills .” lol

Just something worth noticing: in the tab you go all the way to the 22nd fret. But most basses (and including the most popular ones like Fender/Squier) only have 20 frets. I know it's probably the right note and it's how Flea played on the record but you should keep in mind that since most people only have 20 frets you should use different notes to people can follow the tab without wondering where to go. Obviously the 22nd D Fret (C) can be played on the 17th G Fret but not everyone (especially beginners) think of that quickly.
@CoverSolutions
@CoverSolutions 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah i skipped that detail, but you are right, the same note is available on the G 17

@jay8819 6 жыл бұрын
Kyuuga people seem to think an extra few frets are expensive. And to say "I'm not going to buy a 24 fret bass for a few songs" well, I guarantee you there are plenty of songs that use above 20th fret. And also, what about making your own music. You are already limiting yourself. I haven't even got a Squire, never mind a Fender. I can't afford that much money. I still have a 24 fret bass that I'm pleased with tho, its called "looking around for a good price" I do not care what brand it is or not.
