Now if we take Primus and compare Tommy the Cat and Is it Luck, they both have very similar feels, fast bass and so forth. That's why I say Primus is a one trick pony. Kurt always made me feel better about my life because somehow i can identify with some lyrics he wrote down. But on the other hand, their music seemed more like a vent for their feelings and not to be "good" and they do have a sense for music, yet i think rhcp made equally good if not better music. Kurt was Inspirational and that might be so much more worth than a song everyone likes.

Who fucking cares if it sounds 'poppy' (which it doesn't) the only reason people say 'ugh, I hate pop music' is to seem counter culture and alternative when they know very little about music as a whole, it's a good song. Sure, the guitar isn't as prevalent as other songs but it's just one song from a whole album, Higher Ground doesn't have a huge amount of guitar in it, nobody whines about that, not every Chilli Peppers song has to be the exact same as your favourite, diversity and stylistic evolution is what the Chilli Peppers have always been about, if they still sounded like their first three albums then everyone would be bored to death with them.

Here, I'll explain the album cover. Anthony recently dated a girl that was under half his age, her being in her 20's and he being in his 50's, and the whole album is based around that relationship because it slowly crumbled to pieces. The little girl represents the girl Anthony dated, because she was so young. Now for the animals. It looks like the animals are leading the little girl somewhere. The animals, bear, raccoon, bird and fox (seen on the extended picture/on the back of the album) can represent different things. Notice how none of the animals are pets or animals you would keep in your house? They're wild animals. I think the girl Anthony dated left far away from home, just to try to find success in life. She moved to California to try to find success, and THE ANIMALS represent the new wild lifestyle she took on when dating him. The Chili Peppers (at least in their earlier years) were known for being a wild bunch, so maybe the 4 animals represent the band members?
