Is the compresser helpful in getting that frusciante tone? I know his CE-1 mainly compressed/distorted his signal, but that sort of works similarly right? CE-1's are just too expensive to justify haha.

yup, compression is one of the most important things for frusciante’s tone imo. he used to use a mxr dyna comp on bssm (pretty sure), but on later stuff he mostly got compression from cranking his marshall amps. hope this helps :)

@@roejogan6968 You sure he didn't use compression from a pedal in his later stuff? Songs like Can't Stop and Dani California definitely sound like a compressor pedal to me. Not amp compression.

The Ibanez wh-10v2 pedal affects the tone even when it’s not engaged. It makes the tone a little more quacky and distinct.
