Today I took my kayak down to Melton Reservoir for my first Christmas holiday kayak fishing trip; to say the Natives were on the chew would be an understatement! I hope you enjoy this action-packed episode :)

Was definitely a strange day like that, usually everyone sees fish when one person gets into them. Guess I just had a tin arse for the day 🤣

Wow what a great session on the natives mate 👍🎣💪 Hopefully we get to see a cook uo of that yella, they are bloody delicious, hoping to nab a few on my trip in 2 weeks... Mainly chasing cod but going to throw some smaller lures as well

Haha maybe early in the new year mate! I've found the Yellas sometimes have eyes as big as a Cod even though their mouth and stomach might not be as big 😅

I was down there in the kayak on Sunday morning,didn't even look like catching anything!,the five or six other guys down there didn't look as though they were doing any better,I suppose it has to be right time right place.

Hey mate, I haven't but I've heard some people have before. It's a public waterway though, fisheries officers have said that they never would have stocked it if the public didn't have access and both the police and local council have advised we're able to use it with no problems. If the boat club is giving anyone grief then we've been told to just ignore them 🤷

@jordythebassist oh nice I've been looking at slayers have you had any annoyances or issues with it?

@JaiiLatte the only thing with it is that the bulkhead is fairly wide, so it can be a little slow on steering and slap a bit going into a chop. The steering could probably be improved with the berley pro rudder upgrade but I've never bothered as the instant reverse via pedalling backwards has always allowed me to make tight manoeuvres Othe than that it has been great, really versatile and well laid put to do a full day on the kayak in comfort. Personally prefer it to a Hobie.

Yes mate absolutely, I know one fella got a nice Yellowbelly off the bank yesterday. Having a kayak definitely helps though as you can cover a lot of ground to find the fish
