Love cinnamon and apples? Give these a go... apples wedges in "Red Hots" cinnamon syrup. Sure to become a holiday canning staple.
I used:
9 large honeycrisp apples-peeled, cored and cut into 8 wedges
1 5.5 oz. package of Red Hots cinnamon candies
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 1/2 c. white vinegar
2/3 c. light corn syrup
2 cinnamon sticks
2 t. whole cloves
1 t. ginger
Bring all ingredients to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Add apple wedges and simmer 5 minutes.
Water bath or steam can pint jars for 15 minutes following all safe canning guidelines and canner instructions, adjusting for altitude as follows:
1 - 1,000 ft. 15 minutes
1,001 - 3,000 20 minutes
3,001 - 6,000 25 minutes
above 6,000 ft. 30 minutes
