@@kevinsedwards No offence but which performance are You referring to when You claim that it's "5%" difference. I think the 845 beats the 835 by more than that in most "departments"... Though they perform the same regarding "native megapixel support" where they both reach 16Mp. But on the other hand the 835 is only capable of 30fps 4k Video, but the 845 can handle 60fps... So in that department the difference is 100%, not 5. But the general point is simply that You pay for a phone which at present basically only has two selling points, "cool looks" (if that style appeals to You) and ""status"" (i.e. it shows that You have enough money that You can spend this much on a "rather ordinary phone") . If none of that appeals to You You are better off buying another phone...And You will get more for Your money. Best regards.

Now.. that said... if i'm to be analytical about today's modern smartphones then one could argue that insane price point is still a great deal. Todays premium smartphones are better than yesteryears desktop workstations. Think about it, a 2k oled display, OS, internet and cellular, music games motion sensors gps maps camera. all in one and in the palm of your hand, its truly amazing when you really think about it. And it becomes outrageous when you consider all those things and more in a good $200 chinese smartphone.

They really needed to step back from a lot of what they put it. It should've shipped with an amazing camera, not some after sale mod which will likely costs hundreds of dollars more. It sounds like they made a solid phone with good materials but the styling is far too aggressive in the same way anything "gamer" is styled. They fucked up big time with this. First gen should've been a basic, no frills device but did those basics very well so it should've been well made with a good screen, speakers and good camera like you'd expect from RED. Instead they decided that the camera wasn't as important so that can wait until 2019 meanwhile the product ships with a shitty gimmicky 3D screen when people stopped caring about 3D movies years ago.

Hahaha. This is just the same effect as the New 3DS use for 3D. The front facing camera does the trick, it tracks your head and then it will focus the 3D effect base on the position of your head so there's nothing really special about it.

That's not how this technology works. Do some research. Leia screen uses nanotechnology underlying your regular display. This allows for the effect to take place in both horizontal and vertical viewing. The 3ds utilizes a front facing sensor(camera) to track your head so it sends the proper left and right eye image but it is limited to only one orientation for viewing which is not useful on a phone.

Need I mention that, by the time those modules come out, the 835 processor is going to be so outdated (it already is). Ohhhh its like me beloved Evo 3d that I got like 8 years ago and still dig out from time to time to take 3d pics cause of the novelty of it, I want it lol, but as a backup-toy. FYI the evo 3d also had to use a separate app store for its 3d content also, but they even got gameloft to partner and make 3d ports of their other big mobile games specifically for the phone. This was when gameloft made the best mobile games(though they were knockoffs of popular AAA console games at the time) with no microtransactions or timers or anything. I have Modern Combat on mine and its baiscally like a 3ds, an old 3ds without the fact tracking though.

This is an example of where brand identity can hurt some brands when they try to diversify. It's obvious if you know about RED, the fact that they are making a phone, you automatically think, EPIC cameras, so to just have a okay set of cameras,begs the question, why extend your brand into the phone market? I love the design of this phone, but then i like industrial styles. I like the size and the finger indents too. I'd like to see more competition in this unusual area, instead of all the new phones looking very similar to each other. This is a funky and bold design. It's just a shame that the specs don't quite match the bold style. I would buy this phone if the specs were something in line with the Huawei P30. It's the style that sets this phone apart from the crowd and i believe there is a definite market for something different.

A 6GB/128GB Galaxy note 9 is $999, while the note 9 with 8GB/512GB is $1249 A 256GB Iphone XS Max is $1249 Apple has the apple ecosystem, IOS, Mac OS as their bread and butter, if they allowed other OEMs to make iphones at different price points, they wouldn't sell as well. Red doesn't have that many rivals in the camera space, ARRI and a handful of others, each have cameras that are only marginally better at a few things than their rivals, not enough to cause a switch. They are RED, but they are wrong when it comes to the to smartphones, they thought their name would mean something in the ANDROID smartphone market.....It doesn't, if you don't give (give....not show......looking at you nvidia rtx) consumers something extraordinary at the time of launch, most people won't be willing to pay extraordinary prices first step or not. smh
