I was brought up fishing the river thames,the tidal thames and apart from wading in rather than using a platform, it reminded me of my childhood just like des shipps, I used a closed face reel which was the fashion in those days and make trotting the stick float a dream I don't do enough stick float fishing nw, as its all lakes I may go back to the tidal thames after this video, for nostalgia Great video des again, Took me back forty odd years👍👍👍👍👍👍

me too, ABU506, bait apron ,waders, maggots,stick float, outside bulls head strand on the green and Richmond. clonking dace (goers) and roach, the odd perch, gudgeon, trout and bream.......happy days

Yeah fished down at Richmond, ham and petersham Loved fishing the tide at Richmond lock bridge 20lb of Dace, elderberry in the summer, Cracking roach and rudd, They've put loads of catfish in there for some reason, Fish opposite the ship at chiswick Bridge for bream low tide, Definately nostalgic if not huge weights Remember the 506 it had back wind on it, Great days though🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Des is a great angler, he makes stuff look so easy, he explains everything in simple terms, he's a Legend, I hope Zolt bagged a Barbel. Thanks Des and Zolt In the US (Where I live now) there are several species of barbel type fish, the yanks call them 'suckers'. The best looking one out of them all is the 'River Red Horse' (that really is it"s name) and they grow to the size of Barbel, never caught one. I.m breaking out the stick floats I bought in England about 34 years ago, the Winooski river in Vermont beckons.

And I've fished the Don in and around Sheffield and Rotherham for 30 years with a stick float and never seen a barbell never mind caught one!
