One of my favorite things I don’t see much comment on is THIS 4:30 Grimm (I’ll call him Grendel because is the name of the antagonist of the Beowulf story and the appearance of both are quite similar) The way He and Ruby just look at each other tells us clearly how this Grimm is a bigger threat than the others Then he does what no other Grimm as ever done, Dodge, he punches back he doesn’t run like a wild animal, he’s different This is made explicit by how he looks unique He’s arm looks far longer than the other, he’s covered in head to toe in spikes so he doesn’t look like a wolf anymore, almost none of his spikes are white or red so the viewer can’t even see its teeth or face making it even more mystic and terrifying than the others, and his eyes are golden unlike the starting Grimm But Ruby doesn’t care since in 4:35 she’s basically deleting Grendel from her worldview and hyper focusing about her matter, the eye make it feel like she acknowledges his existence but only as a obstacle in the way Yet she’s pushed back and as to run, being the only Grimm she doesn’t immediately kill when in a 1v1 Then is the rest of the beowolf’s, BEAUTIFUL They feel extremely wild and feral, their designs being a mix of the Red trailer and final designs (mostly beacon arc) are amazing I love how much the grunt and roar, they are making what should be victorious and epic (Ruby getting close to her mother) stressing and crowded while still being a spectacle But my favorite part is how through the video they slowly starts deteriorating, some Beowolf’s have misplaced spikes, black spikes, mix of both, golden eyes, lack ears, have colored teeth, have heterochromia, some don’t have spikes on random places or not spikes at all It makes them feel wild, uncontrollable, feral and monstrous. AND I LOVE IT 5:46 shout out to this Grimm which hit Ruby mid air and then when is almost half cut it keeps attacking, it helps to show the Grimm as monstrous abominations of hatred which aren’t just wild animals or soldiers They are forces of evil who want to kill no matter the price 6:19 is so amazing, they blend just well enough with the dark background to make them feel as a part of it but no quite, and the amount of them around summer as she’s surrounded by them while she has her crucifix like weapon is beautiful The Grimm have presence, they are ruthless, the goal might not be fighting them like in the red trailer but here they feel so much more present and tangible as threats Another shout out to 6:53 for not only dodging but blocking and KICKING Ruby, it helps to finally show despite Ruby being stronger and more skilled, she’s isn’t invincible While also showing the Grimm while being more feral and less durable, are still very capable of killing her which is something I’ve wished to see for years Then a giant horde of Beowolf’s standing between her and her mother with the trees making it look like there’s infinite more Grimm than they expect is beautifully made The way it just feels like is just escalating and escalating is beautiful and Grendel’s death being done so casually by Ruby but having so much build up while being Awesome in of itself is JUST GOLD I love it, I know this animation is about Summer and Ruby but the Beowolf’s in the middle really help to bring the whole thing together by how this animation is able to tell several stories at once and be unique in beautiful ways Genuinely the best RWBY animation I’ve ever seen

I really like this overall. I love the elegant brutality you added to Ruby's fighting style, and that you let her remember she's got a polearm, and that it's sharp on both ends. The visual storytelling, with her chasing her mother's memory and example, was also fantastic. However, I couldn't help but notice that Ruby's animations felt a bit stiff, especially when she was walking or running. And I don't think she ever seemed to reload, which is one thing RWBY, at least in the early days, actually did keep track of.

@nivekakninblarg80765 ай бұрын
There weren't enough special effects for the no combat scenes of walking or season changes. For the season changes, the color saturation should pulse with each change. The season photos should be dichromatic, and the trees should have more depth. Missing the gun fire flash sometimes and the special effects around it. Not enough recoil slashes as she should be using them to conserve stamina. There should be some distance blur for out of focus objects, mostly the background. Slight camera tremor can be used for simulating saccades for the emotional moments that are distinguished from combat moments. The gunfire sound like metal rebar at some points. Not sure if your experimenting with those sounds, but I don't think I should hear the metallic ring that lasts as long as normal fire sounds. The black circle effect after rby got hit lasted too long, some other special effects maybe should have lasted longer. 3:21 The snow flakes should probably round out and be moving down right instead of going straight right when she's motionless. 3:53 The war scythe should be more visible and should probably be used more than this. It should be used when in close range and with recoil slashing. The grim don't have special effects for when they swing and hit. I think you should used better bloom, camera zoom, camera shift, and color shifting instead of the white fog for the high speed sections. There should be more wolf petals and blood effects. Rby expressions and the wolf eyes and teeth should be easier to see and focus on. Should have used a slow time high speed animation instead of one of red blurs, and show recoil or show seemingly jumping off of air. The white fog doesn’t have any substance or depth and should either be reworked or replaced with other special effects. In general, you should use colors and lighting more to distinguish rby and the wolfs from the background. Not a all inclusive explanation, but areas that can be improved.

Body stinging from the carnage it had doled out, Ruby Rose once again found herself at the gravestone, cold winter air threatening to freeze anything in its path. Tears sliding down her face, she slumped into the snow, her scythe-gun, Crescent Rose, falling from her grip. "Another.. hallucination." She thought she was past this. Accepted her mother was in the past, a part of history, never to step foot again upon this mortal plane. Yet, recently, she'd seen what appeared to be her, in her long white cloak, her kindly smile, inviting her to come to her. Discarding all logic, she'd drop whatever she'd been doing, and race outside into the snow, into the Grimm-filled forest and try desperately to reach her mother. Yet despite the tears and pain, it all led her back here to her mother's gravestone. She'd been coming home late into the night, covered in bruises, and cried herself to sleep. If she wanted to get into Beacon Academy, she had to stop this, focus on her classes at Signal. She ought to be studying more, yet here she was, chasing after ghosts. "I'm sorry..." she said to the world, and proceeded to burst into tears in front of the gravestone, the winter snow falling gently.

wow. i thought I was going to see a cool remake of the red trailer but holy crap i wasn't expecting this much effort into it. Like you actually made it that it could've been canon or what the original trailer should have been for RWBY to start off the franchise that would make sense instead of retconning. I'm not shaming the previous original trailer, but this is actually consistent and has reasoning/meaning why the grimm looks like that without words and shows it can still work. Like i didn't even thought of this way at all. By Ruby wasn't just test fighting but searching and saw her mom so she tries her best to find where she could be, while showing similarities of her mother, going pass drought, doubt, and anger to come across the truth of it at the end of where she believes the last time of seeing her again. This is from my perspective of it, still im blown away that this has depth to ruby then making her a kid that likes guns and wants to be a hero. And i'll be honest, if this is the red trailer, this would be my number one compare to the others for sure.

Some of the ideas are just awesome and really made full use of Ruby's arsenal. And I know this is probably less noticed bit my gawd there are some moments of cinematography in this that are just amazing. My favorite part is the ending. The visual storytelling and intensity of the fighting make such well done buildup and the payoff gave me chills.. She fights her way through, but in the end gets stripped of her weapon and her hood of mystery, revealing the war-born child that she is who just wants her mom back and has come to live the warriors life just like her mom also. Ofc there's clunky action moments or shots which didn't flow as well, but this was still so amazing. This deserves to go viral and get the recognition that the Team SLVR trailers have. Clearly lots of love went into this. 👍😄

Something that always stuck with me is that Ruby truly could've been a more complex character. She rarely went beyond her excessively happy exterior in the early show (and we don't talk about the later show). Even though, if you listen to the lyrics of Red Like Roses, it's a little girl that has nightmares of the gruesome death of her mother. At the hands of the monsters that she now fights out of a misguided desire to follow in her footsteps, and an altruistic yearning to be a hero, to help people. Pretty morbid shit. Sort of thing you'd think would change a person.

I love seeing Vol1 tactics of the polearm and Ruby pivoting through the blade again. Using Crescent and the beowulf as a snowboard is totally something she would have done Vol1. Even using her small stature to go under them is something I wish I saw more of in the show. She grows up from this dependent style of fighting as she gets stronger but I miss it so much. Then there's the consistent sense of direction from scene to scene, running motions, and long panning shots that are reminiscent of Monty. What hits me more than the stunning visuals and choreography like Monty is the storytelling. A remake of the Vol1 trailer that anyone new would understand without dialogue using the animation and song. Ironically I don't have 'Red Like Roses' lyrics memorized but here I felt like it was conveying her emotions, going through the five stages of grief even if I couldn't find all five. 1. Cape covers Ruby's face because she is emotionally confused and grieving, as if she left the funeral looking for answers to what happened to Summer. Which is why it covers her throughout the animation until it comes off at the end when she gets the 'answer'. It also symbolizes how far she is from the truth as Summer's face is also blurry and covered until it comes off at the end. 2. 4:30 is her first major obstacle in finding the truth (stronger beowulf), while the earlier beowulf were attracted to her sadness. Ruby's color changes bright red is her determination to pursue what really happened (turning point where she can't go back). 3. 5:15-5:30 "you tried to do what's right, In the middle of this madness" with the beowulf ashes (black confusion) surrounding Ruby, confusing where to go until she finds Summer's petal (white answer) in the middle of the madness. They symbolize obstacles (people and lies?) hiding what actually happened to Summer and the length of all the lies (her long chase through Spring Fall and Winter). 4. 6:05-6:40 are Summer's lyrics in the song so you made Summer focused scenes. "left you in this world full of madness, I wish I could talk to you for a minute, make you understand why I did it" has Summer looking back at Ruby with regret with the world of madness (beowolf ashes) in between them. And 6:20 "I tried so hard just to protect you but I failed to" with Summer's cross weapon foreshadows the answer she died in combat. 6:32 "there's no final chapter I didn't have a choice I did what I had to do" I like that Ruby shot the beowulf on this line as if she was rejecting the song, arguing that she's searching until a happy ending after chapter. Then immediately blasts forward from her run 6:37 as the lyrics talks about sacrificing herself which she tries to deny and outrun. 5. 6:56 "You to waste your life in vain" is the only time Ruby loses to the beowulfs, symbolizing how endlessly looking for the answer she will get depressed and beaten. But seeing how close Summer is (very bright white) only motivates her to finish searching. 6. 7:37-7:58 The bridge of the lyrics are Ruby and Summer fighting over why Summer shouldn't have left, and the increase of beowulf are like personal attacks from Summer herself (excuses to hide the truth). 7. 8:01 "But nothing ever takes the place of you" Ruby breaks through the last obstacle (beowulf) with this argument, and her cape comes off as she realizes the whole truth. Which the only truth at the end is that Summer is dead (her grave) regardless of everything else along the way, as Ruby slowly walks up to it (slowly accepting the truth). Even the final petal breaking symbolizes she's reached her answer.

BUT i love how you also incorporated your own style and flavoring into this. this is made with pure passion and love. wishing you the best, AK! and who knows we might see you one day making your own show.

My guy, you did NOT disappoint!!! I do think this is the BEST RWBY fan animation out there!! If you do, I can't wait to see what you'll do for Weiss', Blake's and Yang's trailer! Or a couple RWBY vs videos are good too. Bravo, my friend 👌

The cinematography and music really tell a touching story that you fully get once you see it to the end and that gives re-watches a new meaning. This really captured the Monty-esk energy as @Celtic Phoenix said in his, but clearly there is some of your own style in it with the cape-glows and similar FX. I hope to see more and that you continue to reach new heights. May your inspiration never end!

9 minutes of pure full-throttle style and absolutely nasty choreography that had me jumping out of my chair. I couldn't place it at first but after finishing the video I get it now; you've managed to recapture the feeling I had when I saw the Red trailer for the first time so many years ago, put your own vicious spin on it, and turn it into something Monty would be jealous of. Incredible job, and I can't wait to see what you do next!

I don't stand close to Monty yet. But I'm sure he would love my snowboarding idea😎🙏

@@AKMotions you say you dont stand close but in my opinon this is damn close dude. You somehow managed to create fluid fight scenes with new ideas and amazing execution. The only thing that was really off was the running. I haven't seen anything so far from other people trying that comes close to your animation. Your animation feels like monty himself worked on it and at the same time has things that are obviously your style that dosent detract from it at all. Saw this in another comment and you probably know him already but Mark is another great animator and he just put out a great RWBY animation like 2 days ago. Side note my favorite tiny part her is at 5:00 where she holds it behind her back and uses the recoil to spin around and shoot 2 of them. Dope as. had to rewatch it a couple times

Got damn AK!! I know I don’t watch Ruby that much but wow this wants me to continue watching it. My most favorite parts of this animation were Ruby’s spinning attacks and, her destroying those dogs. Man the sound effects and visuals are sweet. Love your work, I want to see more!

Awesome story. The choreography? Excellent. The Red Like Roses songs fit, and having Ruby follwing the spirit of her mother was interesting. Character design, very reminiscent of the animation style from Volume 3. Every time I listen to Red Like Roses II I get a little choked up from the lyrics.

Absolutely PHENOMENAL! I was so enthralled by the combat, choreography, storytelling, and the crazy use of Ruby and Crescent Rose as a whole. The only thing that discrated me was the color of the hood and cape but other than that, you perfectly captured RWBY and Monty as a whole. Kudos to you!

Okay, bro, the fight choreography here is about as insane as Monty himself would have done it. Over-the-top moves and slices because they look awesome, and hacking through Grimm like cheese.... Monty would have been proud of this, through and through. Awesome job!
@jordanrichardson2367 Жыл бұрын
Omg I wish Monty could’ve seen this. Especially when Roosterteeth can incorporate ways to show how Ruby can fight with her scythe in show but it’s like they have no creativity like Monty did. And your story telling in the animation is just chef’s kiss. Idk why more people haven’t seen it. It’s like Ruby’s trying her best to run from her thoughts of negativity but they just keep coming no matter where she turns. Eventually it all just leads back to Summer and Ruby just feels lost. Well done dude. Respect

One thing I love about this is how RWBY uses her scythe. You see people say it all the time, but she barely ever uses her scythe *like* a scythe or takes advantage of the pokey handle lmao. You have her stabbing into grimm and twirling herself and the impaled enemy around to reposition herself, and align her enemies for a double kill, and playing around with momentum stabs and slashes from bullet recoil. That one move of her stabbing the handle through the grimm and then twirling around to shoot the rest of it through was stellar. One of my favorite fan animations ever!! Edit: I DIDN’T MENTION IT BECAUSE I HADNT GOT TO THAT PART BUT THE SLEDDING? GENIUS

getting back into monty oum stuff recently and coming across this was crazy. this is the best rwby fan animation i've seen. i remember reading all this stuff about monty's influences, all those old asian martial arts and action films, all those fighting games and character action games, all those shonen anime, ddr and pump it up, etc. and thinking "so this is what made monty". and now its crazy to see monty now IS one of those inspirations, those influences, making the next generation of amazing aspiring fight animators/choreographers. this is unreal. and looking back at your older videos it's crazy to see your progress as well. seeing that dead fantasy 3 video i really thought "this is super monty-like" but seeing this video you really come into your own as well, with super huge monty influence but also stylistic differences apparent like the camera work which is really dynamic and awesome, moving in ways that monty didnt seem to move the camera in. i honestly think this video is on the level of most of the fights in monty-era rwby, like blake and sun v torchwick or the famous food fight. the only rwby fights i can definitively say i enjoy more than this might be the four trailers and pyrrha vs crdl. jesus christ, this is impressive

I am glad every times someone comments about Monty. Monty definitely had a HUGE impact on my life. The man left a crater. A big reason my style managed to match so closely with his is because I understand why he liked all the things he liked, and I enjoy it all too. Anime, fighting games, Pump it Up, Hong Kong action films like Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Jet Li, Jon Woo. All that stuff is what made Monty Monty. But it's also shaped me as well. Not to mention Monty's work itself shaped me.
@hypermonkeybird4945 Жыл бұрын
@@AKMotions yeah im a big fan of all the stuff that monty liked too. i got pretty excited when i found an interview where he cited Police Story (my favorite action film) as an influence. your video on his influences was also really good and enlightening. only thing it was missing was a mention of final fantasy 8 (which absolutely was the inspiration for "it's also a gun") that might be part of what some other rwby fan animations dont have, although ive seen so many good ones, i feel like they might not have as much experience with the stuff that shaped monty, and you clearly have spent time deep diving to really GET it. that might be why this animation is a cut above the rest (although i dont AT ALL want to see like im disparaging other fan animators, i genuinely think a lot of the stuff people like Cake and of course Mark Zhang have made is also fucking amazing, its just that this video is the cream of the crop). there's also just like, practice. when i watched your jaune vs yang animation i remember thinking "ok he already has the choreography down perfectly in his head, its just the execution of the animation that isnt 100% perfect yet". of course im no animator so i dont exactly know what im talking about and can only speak in vague terms, but i feel like this video is a marked improvement from stuff i already thought was great. really good stuff mate. keep up the good work. hopefully one day you'll be the one inspiring a generation, id love to see your name credited somewhere big.

Your choreography is absolutely stunning, I had to rewind and rewatch certain parts because I was just in shock of how creative you got! And that skiing section was NUTS! And the fact that you tied it all into Ruby’s story and searching for her mother and following in her footsteps is just absolutely wonderful. I cannot give you enough praise for this. Well done!

I cannot believe that I’d ever be saying this, but you’ve somehow managed to outdo the Red trailer. This is an insane feat of animation, and every few minutes I kept saying to myself “holy shit it’s still going?!?!?” In the best possible way. I actually vastly prefer the way you animated Ruby’s fighting style to the way the show does it, both in Volumes 1-3 and Volumes 4-8. 9 got close with the sequence in the last episode, but this was that idea fully realized. There’s an actual feeling of weight to her scythe that the show has always lacked to me, and you can really feel it here, especially with the way it drags the Grimm around. I also really liked just how much variety you gave it, with the way it switched between forms, it kept the choreography interesting. And of course, the framing device of this - Ruby chasing after Summer. You can really get a sense of Ruby’s grief in this, the way she frantically chases after Summer’s ghost. You don’t even need to see her face, you animated her body language perfectly. I like how we don’t get to see her face until the very end - when she’s finally alone, with nothing but her thoughts. And the chasing through winter, spring and fall to get to Summer?? Bro??? That’s literally so clever like what???? And the white petals/snow effect here on Summer was top notch - I’ve gotta stop now, because I’m just gonna keep gushing forever but long story short this is incredible and you should be proud of yourself. One of the best RWBY fan animations I’ve ever seen!
