Red Magic 6R | Unboxing, Gaming Test & RM6 Comparison

Unboxing ZTE Nubia's Red Magic 6R with a hands-on review of the gaming performance and features, plus specs comparison vs the original Red Magic 6. This is one of the cheapest dedicated gamer smartphones of 2021, but is it the best value?
I've been testing the grunt with some Genshin Impact, and on top detail settings the phone handled this title well - for a while. Unfortunately I did see some serious throttling, as the cooling tech couldn't keep the Snapdragon 888 performing to its full abilities. Still, Game Space adds loads of great features, and PubG, CoD Mobile etc play perfectly.
You've got a smaller battery in the Nubia Red Magic 6R (the 'Racing' model) vs the original smartphone, while the 144Hz display is almost as good (despite the selfie orifice). You don't have stereo speakers or a headphone jack, sadly.

Great video I really wanted the main red magic 6 phone but this will suit me fine plus it's cheaper so I'm going to save some money and hopefully get it next month.. wen thinking about this it is a good gaming phone but for the price ur paying u might aswell just pay the extra and get the red 6 for £510 it wud have been good if they cud have done it for £350-380

Just bought the red magic 6 pro direct from Nubia. Took over 2 weeks to arrive, and wow it is a big phone. My last phone was galaxy A71 so use to big phones. Can't fault the phone so far, very fast and responsive. Already use to the finger triggers and they do make a different in games. Good phone overall however lack of UK support may prove a problem later on down the road.

Get a gaming phone to play games, don't worry about updates. If you like constant updates get an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy

A question, is Techspurt using the 8gb ram one to run genshin? Because I'm hearing alot of things from my friend who has Black Shark 4 12GB Ram and 870 SD. He said, 8GB is bare minimum to keep Genshin working. My question does 6GB red magic 6r and 8GB variate so much different? (Both is on 888 SD, I know.)

Lenovo Legion Duel 2 has no 3.5mm jack, but it has two USB-c connectors for 90 watt charging and a USB-c to 3.5mm adapter, and I still consider it a gaming phone. :)

Finally a phone I wanted flagship screen and cpu and everything else is just good enough to make it cheap thank god I want the performance and nice screen to run emulators but my main phone is iPhone so I don’t need the cameras and such cause my iPhone has that but I need the power for my games and emulators gaming is much easier on android support for controllers etc works way better so I have a android for gaming and iPhone for everything else

Sad about the 4200mah battery when they could literally cramp in a 4,500-5,000 mah battery considering that this is a huge phone and the headphone jack wasnt there so that would be a huge letdown for other users and would make them go for the blackshark 4 or the basic redmagic 6

Great as a secondary device. I don't recommend this is as a main driver. I had the RM 6 Pro, and the software, which this uses, is the worst software support i've seen on any brand. Bugs, bugs, bugs everywhere. Trust me, once the hardware honeymoon fades, the software will kill you.

@@danyo1698 No media player in notification or Lock Screen, eg spotify. Sometimes appears but then is locked to one song. Fans randomly turn on with every setting turned off. Does not clear background apps most of the times when you click X in recent apps. Sometimes does not load recent apps using gestures instead it goes home Unable to change home launcher unless you use navigation bar not gestures, but bug is when you set nova or any as default, when press home it goes to stock launcher That’s the ones I can remember, there are other questionable design choices, eg you can be on 165hz but on apps like Twitter Instagram etc it is locked on 60, so what’s the point?
