Thank you so much for this technique of making masa. I'm in Orange County CA and have a lot of places to buy prepared masa. But I'm going to try doing this, as I remember my grandmother making her masa this way with lard instead of oil. I'm 70 years old, and who said you can't teach an old dog? Haaa haaa. Thank you so much for your recipes. A very blessed Holiday season to you and your family!

Thank you Gloria for the great recipe! I love your channel :-) I have a couple of questions, with regards to lard. In your other video you cooked with lard. 1) How would I utilize lard in this "cold" method and 2) what are the differences with the cold vs. hot (cooked) methods as in your other video, meaning why would you prepare each of the methods this way? I love how detailed you are and how you present different recipes and methods for the same food.

Good morning my friend the reason that you use the lard or the vegetable oil cooked you warm it up it’s to infuse it with the flavor of garlic or the flavor of onion that will give you a Tamales an amazing flavor and if you decide that you just want to use the vegetable oil or the lard cold form your tamales will still come out delicious but they won’t have that amazing flavor of the garlic or the onion but the tamale will come out nice and fluffy and delicious with the flavors of your feelings that you added . I hope my friends you give this amazing recipe a try I am sure you’re going to love this MASA for tamales happy holidays and may God bless you and your entire family take care🙋♀️❤️🙏🏻

I was always told that a little piece of masa should "float" to the top of a glass of water. Will this masa float?
