That came out really nice, even with the bump of the broken screw. Thank you for sharing your video.

Thanks Mark! Oh it was more than a bump, it about went in the scrap pile lol.

Broken screws, the struggle is real. Never had seven, but have had it happen. I use my dermal. Beautiful bowl!! I like you finish coat method!
@EppsCreations3 жыл бұрын
I’ve used these screws on many other types of wood and even epoxy. Never had them snap until red oak. They even broke on the next red oak pice dropping Friday. Thanks for watching!

Had the broken screw issue before. Nextime this happens use a similar sized drill bit and drill holes all around the screw. Once that is done Needle nose pliers should pop it right out. Beautiful piece by the way!
@EppsCreations2 жыл бұрын
Actually someone gave me the idea to use a wood plug bit. That worked so much better than drilling around it. Just run the screw in the center of the plug and it comes right out!

For broken screws the best luck i've had is using a plug cutter to take out the material around them then break off that material with a chisel. Looks great!
@EppsCreations3 жыл бұрын
I have plug cutters but didn’t even think about that! Wish I knew because I did it on the next piece that will be out next Friday lol. Dang red oak!

Stunning piece! Definitely worth the trouble that it put you through. Did the stabilizer have time to fully cure?

Oh yea. I baked the heck out of it. That’s just how it looks. Nice and smooth, hard stuff though when cured.

Beautiful bowl. However, you do not need such long screws. I never use screws longer that about 12 mm (sometimes as long as 6 mm) and never (in more that 30 years) had the piece come lose. If very unbalanced, keep it in place with your tail stock till the worst vibration is over. And make sure you start with low revolutions. Kind regards.

Love the bottom...so many just make it round and leave it.

Well thank you! I try and mix it up, so many people love so many things it’s such a shame to stick to one when you’re just being creative.

Burl wood is not healthy wood. That’s why it’s so difficult to work with at times… But you sir, are a master at working with it! Bravo!

You got all that colour from clear resin? You don't wear gloves when handling epoxy? Just curious.
@EppsCreations2 жыл бұрын
Yes, with the addition of mica powder and dyes. And yes, I wear gloves all the time after getting some that spilt on my hand after the fact and almost not being able to get it off lol.
@henniebasson5153 жыл бұрын
If you "pre-drill" and put some grease in the holes, they will never get stuck. Regards.

So sick of this Chinese made crap (screws). I guess if you want good hardware you gotta go stainless steel.
@EppsCreations3 жыл бұрын
Lol you mean that chineseieum metal? Lol. They haven’t broke off in any other wood except this red oak. But it is like concrete!
