My favorite track out of this ost. Captures the atmosphere of Martinaise and has background instruments to give it that 90s cop movie feel. Makes you wanna light a cig. Just once a day

I've seen people comment that this theme makes them sad, yet for me, it's moreso a feeling of clarity, like a mental breakthrough seeing the light in a fog after a tough time. For me, the echo of the trumpets in this theme has always given me a clear mental image of people calling out to support each other. I think the reason why Disco Elysium resonates with me and probably many others, is that through its ability to portray hardship, it so effectively shows that we have it within ourselves, with some help from the ones closest to us, to be the best version of ourselves. All the best to you all 💙

Kim is an awesome character, they really nailed that one. He isn’t just a hollow NPC following our character around, he behaves like a person we can react to, making us give a shit about him. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that in games.

If yall were wondering, Martinaise basically means "place of sea birds". A lot of the place names in DE are relative, especially to their modern etymologies. Sur-la-clef means "On The Keys", referring to their central river in game. Whereas "Oranje" refers to the real life Wilhem van Oranje, an important historical figure for the modern Netherlands where that nation takes its inspiration from. This game is the epitome of "place names have meaning," and I think that adds to the depth of what it has to say.

Notice the distinct lack of women waxing philosophical and deep-emotional (not superficial/loud-emotional) about things like this, not just in these vids for the DE ost, but in general. The unreflective gender, for sure.
