Thank you, Todd. The tournaments are a lot of fun but they do require an abundant amount of good short term hits in the short window of time that a player gets in two 10 minute sessions. Luck is a big part of those events. But it's free and you never know. good hits may just come your way.

Love your content/tutorial. Watched all of your vids and rewatch for tips on certain hands. I hit a 4 of a kind about 3 weeks ago at my local casino located Upstate New York. Unfortunately, they only offer $1 as the highest denomination and there are no video poker machines in high limit room. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for your very kind words about my channel. Everything that I’ve done up until now has been a video by video learning process with just an iPhone as my only tool. I just invested in an Apple Mac mini, and related video producing equipment that will smooth out the wrinkles in my videos (in small ways) but will largely contribute to my doubling (and eventually tripling) my video output over the next 90-180 days. My goal is to produce 12 videos per month (for now) but eventually I’d like to release a video per day by the end of the next 180 days. My heart goes out to you guys on the East Coast where the video poker pay tables are so dismal. Slotmassacre & I are very close friends and would like to do a nationwide tour of America’s casinos together. It’ll take all of 2022 to put everything in place for that to happen in 2023. Awesome, Jim. I go in underfunded myself in many cases for quick sessions like I did a few nights ago and the machine went on a wild run of Quads all night. So underfunded can still yield its rewards. I save the 1,000 coin bankrolls for specific 3-5 hour session attempts and hope to pull off a Royal or a bunch of Aces if I’m lucky enough. Once you get a 1,000 coin session or two under your belt, you’ll develop a greater feel for the games. You’re doing fine!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Love the channel and advice Question I live close to Indian Casino's and the VP pay table are horrible. Their bonus poker doesn't pay double on two pair. Jacks are better is the only game on Game King that will pay you double on two pairs. What do you suggest. Just play Jacks or better since all other Bonus Poker doesn't pay double??? Thanks
@johnsworldofvideopoker

Thank you, Nozoki. Bonus Poker pays 10 for 2 pair, 125 for Quads, 200 for 2,3,4’s & 400 on 4 Aces, otherwise it’s not really Bonus Poker (despite what the machine signage says). Please give me the names of all the casinos close to you and I’ll research it a little for you. By the way, what is the pay table on JoB? What is the pay table on DDB?

@@johnsworldofvideopoker One more question: Are progressive VP "tighter" than a regular VP. Meaning is the frequency to pay like a slot machine with $5 slots paying a higher return rate than pennies? Are is it the same with all VP no matter progressive or non progressive the same the payout probabilities? Hope that made sense. Thanks for the video's and especially the ADVICE when you play.

The pay tables on progressives are slightly lower to offset the higher jackpots paid out. I prefer 8/5 BP with multi-denominations and if it’s rolling well, I step up to a higher denomination to give me the higher jackpot. Multi-denominations are more flexible because you can keep “scaling-up” to a higher denomination. Progressives are only “worth” it when the jackpot turns the game into a “positive play”. You can’t change denominations on a progressive. I don’t play progressives.🌎

This may be a duplicate and if so I apologize. My question is as follows. Where I play my three games of choice, BP, JOB, and BP Dlx, are full pay up to $2. At the next step up,$5, the f pay is reduced by 1 unit on the full house resulting in an approximate reduction in the game of 1%. Watching your videos I am thinking that when I get $500 up I would like to take a shot at the $5 machine. My question is in your opinion am I better off in the long run playing only the full pay games at the lower level or will the reduction in the game of 1% at the higher level be offset by the greater payoff when I hit- there is a big difference between an $8,000 royal payoff and $20,000.
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming that in regards to BP (for instance) that it is on an 8/5 BP pay table for $2 coin, but for the $5 coin, it is on a 7/5 pay table. But typically, the pay tables get better as you go up in coin denomination not worse. I think it is worth a shot though because I've hit at least three $20,000 Royal Flushes on 7/5 BP machines because that was the highest pay table in that particular casino. However, if there is another casino close by with a better pay table then that would be the place to go play. One of those $20,000 Royals (that I hit on the 7/5 pay table) was won off of $60. I was only in the casino to have a comped buffet, but before I left, I swung by the machines put in the $60 on 50c coin denomination & hit a straight flush within a few spins for $125, so I upped the coin denomination to $1 and hit another straight flush right off the bat for an additional $250. So I decided to "go for broke" and throw it all back in but I switched to the $5 coin denomination. On the very last spin, it dealt me 3 to the Royal & it hit the Royal Flush for $20,000! So they paid me off, and I went to Pechanga on the way home where they have 8/5 BP pay tables. I played for 2.0 hours straight jumping between $2 & $5 coin denominations and hit another $20,000 Royal Flush. That year, I hit a total of 9 Royal Flushes in for $80,000 in Royal Flushes. That 1st Royal (off of that $60) gave birth to all the other Royals. So if you're winning on $2 coin and you're up on them, it won't hurt you to give them that House money back. But if you hit 4 Aces on $5 coin denomination for $2,000, then I would step back down to the 8/5 BP on $2 coin because you just won 1,000 $2 coins from playing $5 coin & you're in great shape to go for an $8,000 Royal on House money (which is the best way to win a Royal). What you do with that $8,000 is up to you. I took mine to a $25 coin machine & then hit the $100,000 Royal with it. But I'm not recommending that to you. My goal right now is to hit a $40,000 and take the whole thing & dump it on a $25, $50, $100 coin denomination machine. If it hits any Royal at all it will be for $100,000, $200,000 (the target Royal), or if I'm really lucky the $400,000 Royal. But I'm a "gambler", as long as, it's with House money!🤣🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Greetings from Torrance! Hi John! I have wondered after a nice 4 of a kind do you become more cautious of your bankroll or do you feel as if it will pay again soon after? That is always going thru my head after hitting something. Did I just hit the top of the wave or am I still at the bottom of the ride up? Your advice to Mason about moving around to find the right machine was spot on. There will always be a machine that is ready to pay out. Just have to be there when it happens! I truly believe that my next Royal will be a 4k one. Even if that doesn't happen, I am playing smarter because of your advice and wisdom, and am taking home more money. Thank you my friend and good luck in Vegas!

I intend on vanquishing my 1,000 coin bankroll on every session I play in order to play without fear. Of course, that is not my goal and I have 2 additional bankrolls that match the first one. If I lose the first one, I go to a different machine with a much higher coin denomination in order to retrieve my first bankroll as soon as possible. Once it is retrieved, I start all over again at the original coin denomination with the retrieved original bankroll and proceed again. If you’re playing 50¢ coin denomination, then you take 3 bankrolls of $500 each with you. If you lose the $500 bankroll on 50¢ coin (which usually doesn’t happen), but if it does, you take the $1,000 that remains and play a $1 & $2 coin machine with it and retrieve that 1st bankroll quickly. In that way, you’ll not only retrieve your original bankroll but you’ll also eventually hit your 1st $4,000 or $8,000 Royal Flush! If you lose all 3 bankrolls, then the next time you go back to the casino, you go with 3 $1,000 bankrolls to retrieve the original 3 bankrolls. Try it! There’s no guarantee, but more often than not, it works!😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Remember I won $114,000 in 3 hours off of a single $100 Bill which was won off of $15 in free play. I hit a $2,000 Royal on a 50¢ machine, then used that $2,000 to hit an $8,000 Royal on a $2 coin machine, then took that money and played an hour on a $25 coin machine to hit the $100,000 Royal. My free play in Vegas is typically between $250-$500 and I usually play at the lower denominations of $1, $2, & $5. The $2 coin denomination is my standard “go to” coin denomination. There are a lot of things that factor into free play offers. The largest factor is that you’re playing 5 hours per day on the machines. That could be two (2.5 hour sessions per day) or any mixture adding up to 5 hours per day. And of course, the higher the denomination the play, then the higher the free play amount is. However, if you’re beating the House more than they like, then they will severely cut your free play back. My buddies, Andrew & Curtis, are the Kings of free play and comps. They typically get comped suites, $1,000-$2,500 in free play and $500-$800 in food comps on any given weekend. I usually get a comped room, $100-$200 in food comps & $300 in free play. Go play at least 3 hours per day and they’ll comp your room and some food. I always sit with a casino host (at the end of every stay) and ask if they could “evaluate my play” just before I check out. Make sure you bill everything to your room, including shirts, hats, & snacks from the gift shop, and bill your Spa visits and drinks at the pool to the room. Give them 3-5 hours of play per day and have them evaluate your play before you check out. A lot times they will pay everything that’s been billed to the room, They “zero it out” and check you out right then and there (as long as you’ve already left the room with your belongings.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

John…How does it work for the Tournament? Does everyone start with the same amount of money, & whoever ends-up with the largest amount at the end of a timed session, wins?
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 жыл бұрын
This happens to be a very small video poker tournament since there’s only $20,000 in prize money, but it’s a start in the right direction, so I want to be a part of any tournament that promotes an interest in and the growth of video poker in general. But typically, you want to go to big tournaments where there’s 1,200+ participants over 2-3 days and $150,000+ in prize money. That way the top 3 prizes are usually $20,000 for 1st, $15,000 for 2nd, and $10,000 for 3rd place and then $7,500, $5,000, $3,000 etc. on down the line. So 7th place may be 10 people each get $2,500, 8th place may be that 20 people each $1,500, etc. A lot of money gets spread around to the top 5%-10% of players. The casinos invite patrons from their data base that are avid video poker players. They usually comp the players their room, food & beverage credit, as well as, free play. The tournament typically has 2 rounds of 10 minutes each with 100 players at a time in each 10 minute session conducted all day long until all 1,200+ participants have scored their 1st round. So you play your 10 minute session at the time assigned to you, and then you can go about your way for the rest of the day and then return on the next day for round 2 at your designated time. After everyone has played both rounds they add-up your 2 scores and that’s your rank or place in the tournament. 1st-5th place are the top 5 finishers. Then they break it up into sections where 6th place might be the next 10 finishers & those 10 each get the same momentary prize of $2,500. Then 7th place is the next 20 players, 8th place may be the next 30 players etc. The tournament itself is DDB. There are zero credits on the screen and there’s no need to insert any money. Every time the player scores a hit: JoB, 2 pair, flush, Quads, Aces w/kicker, The Royal, whatever it is, the player’s win is added throughout those 10 minutes and when the session stops your score might be 1,200 credits, or 1,800 credits, or 3,250 credits etc. They’re just points. That’s your score. After round 1 & 2 are over, they add them together, and that’s your final score. Whoever has the highest score is 1st place and gets the $20,000, whoever is 2nd place gets $15,000, etc. etc. They display everyone’s score on a board so you can see where you ended up. Nowadays, you just go to a rewards desk, slide your players card, and it tells you your score and they give you a voucher to take to the cashier to get your cash or your free play. To be in the money you’ll need a combined score of 3,600 (on average). To win you’ll need 6,000+ in most cases. I won the whole thing with a an 8,000+ score in my tournament win in 2019 for 1st Place & $25,000. Luckily, I hit 4 Aces w/kicker & a Royal Flush plus all the smaller hits that added up to my score in 2019 at the Rio. Most of the time, in other tournaments, I’d get 10th place, or 8th place or 7th place for $500, $1,000, or $1,500 in wins. If you’re in the top 5% you can expect $500+ in prize money. I recommend that you use your player’s card every time you play video poker and you may very well find yourself in a video poker tournament too. Good Luck!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

You’re welcome Wendi. And thank you for subscribing and liking my channel. I hear that The California downtown has video poker tournaments too. So if you were to play there often enough, you’d probably be invited to participate in one. The same holds true for the ‘D’. The Rio was the best video poker tournament venue of all the ones that I played in. If you end up in one let me know. I’d love to hear about it.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

John or anyone, how do you qualify for a video poker tournament?
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 жыл бұрын
Before the pandemic, Caesars Entertainment ran the video poker tournaments at all their casinos in Las Vegas. Using your player’s card (every time that you play) allows the casino to determine who the most avid video poker players are. And they are the ones that get invited. A big tournament has $150,000 in prize money & over 1,200 participants, a medium-sized tournament is for $75,000 in prize money, and a small tournament has $20,000 in prize money. You can always check with the promotions desk or rewards desk and ask if they host video poker tournaments. Then play video poker at that casino and more than likely you’ll be invited to a tournament one day.🌎

@@johnsworldofvideopoker thank you for responding! Good luck at the D by the way! We will be taking a trip to Vegas/Henerson at the end of March. I am new to this, but an avid VP player! Good luck to you, John and Andrew!

Thank you, Sandra. Good luck on your trip too. If you’ve never been to Sunset Station (Henderson) it’s a nice alternative to Green Valley Ranch and is very good in video poker. Palace Station will pleasantly surprise you & is great for video poker (just 2-3 minutes away from the Wynn). Red Rock is 12 miles away from the Strip (in Summerlin) but is the Holy Grail of Video Poker from top to bottom. SunCoast & Rampart casinos are very close to Red Rock and are nice alternatives and fun to check out if you happen to be in Summerlin. I’ll see, Andrew, this morning and mention that you wished us well. Thank you!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

@@johnsworldofvideopoker is your channel only looking for regular VP players? Or interested in teaching really new players how to play the game? You were playing way to fast for a newer player to follow this vlog… I watch ALL THE GANG videos think Doc does the best keeping speed newer VP players could follow

This was my first session filming with a tripod in a casino, and at the time, I didn’t realize that I was playing too fast. All future sessions will be filmed at the slowest speed available to make it more enjoyable for the viewers and to also help me play more accurately with less errors. Also at the time, I didn’t realize that this “one session” at Red Rock, would last 11+ episodes as it has! But I’ve learned a lot along the way and things should evolve for the better as I gain more experience. I see my channel as just sharing my particular video poker journey, mistakes and all. I have nothing to hide and I’m not an expert player by any means. I have had a tremendous amount of luck with the games and I hope that continues. Thank you for subscribing and for your viewership.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

I ended up being down $1,000 at this point over a series of 11 videos. That turns around in the next few videos. Also, as seen in my earlier videos (of this prolonged session), I visited Caesars Palace at night and hit 4 Aces for $10,000 on a $25 coin machine. If I’m down at one casino, I’m often times up in another casino. It’s all good. Individual sessions are not quite as important as being positive or negative over a series of sessions throughout the year. I just show how each session goes. And then I’m on to the next one!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
