"Red Rubber Ball" is a pop song written by Bruce Woodley of The Seekers and Paul Simon of Simon & Garfunkel, recorded by The Cyrkle, whose version reached No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and in South Africa and New Zealand. In Canada, the song reached No. 1.
The song is sung from the perspective of a person in a friendship or relationship in which they are not appreciated. They finally decide to end that friendship, and move on into being free. The song shows that there are a lot of people in life willing to take advantage of one, and in that case, it is better to cut ties and move on.
